STR/RBR. It looks from here that this is really caused by LH brakechecking the field. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8hWIfBkVQUk
Apparently he is a good for nothing s***, that is losing a lot of followers for crap like this, its called a safety car for a reason, you shouldn't be causing more crashes. They flagged Kubica for "causing an accident", but not Hamilton do I sense favoritism in F1. This is a boy playing games in a man's sport, he should grow up and cut the s***.
He's learned from the best. remember FA brake-checking Shumi so severely that he had to swerve to avoid him and actually went by him, thus earning a penalty? Or the Montoya / Shumi incident at Monaco? In this case, LH might actually have been trying to put a little warmth into his brakes. (OK, I doubt it, but could be..) Poor Vettel; I'm surprised Webber didn't aim some of his remarks for HL.
Bernie has big $$$ on him. Why else did he fight max again taking away the drivers points too? becasue he wants LH to win the WDC. At first i liked the guy but now i see his true face more and more as the races progress. I hope he punts it into a wall in the next two races.
I was a huge hamilton fan but as the season's progressed I started to dislike him more and more. He's becoming too cocky and arrogant, not to mention selfish. I guess it's inevitable given his future pay increase and fame...
I have the same feelings, at first I would have liked him to drive for the Scuderia but more and more I like our chances with Massa
Are you guys kidding? First off, the drivers ALWAYS do that with the safety car to keep as much heat in the tyres as possible. Considering the weather conditions, it would seem reasonable that he shouldn't depart from that practice. Secondly, he clearly got in front of the safety car while trying to accelerate/stop so he didn't have much of a choice there anyway. Why was Vettel following directly behind Webber? That seems the bigger problem. It seems like people need a reason to justify hating the guy. Just say you hate him and get on with it.
Also consider that with all the spray from the tires, could LH even see how close behind the others were? I can't put the blame for this on him.
I could not help being struck by the unfairness at Fuji. If Ferrari had really not been informed of FIA's decision to start on full wets they should not have been penalised by the enforced pitstop to do so. After all it was during the prolonged safety car period; they could very well have been allowed to resume their former race positions (after disallowing any fuel top ups duiring this stop) instead of shunting them to the back. The race would have been more interesting & from the way Kimmi & Massa drove afterwards they could have given Hamilton a run for his money and kept Ferrari's Driver championship hopes alive! If wishes were horses.........!! Regarding LH - give him some time to mature as a driver.
It wasn't LH's fault, Vettel shouldn't have been that close to Mark's behind. Granted I think Lewis will grow into a cocky sob as his career progresses that doesn't mean that this was his fault he was just trying to warm his brakes/tyres the accident was completely the fault of Vettel.
Can't really blame LH for that, but the Kubica penalty was absolutely pathetic. I'm realizing more and more just how much favoritism there is towards him, and it will only get worse because he's quite good. I will be very happy to see anyone else win except him in the future.
i won't blame Hammi for this. he has the right to warm up his brakes and tyres. Vettel should have paid more attention. period.
Pffft. He wasn't warming up jacksh1t around a corner. He was taking a corner WIDE and compromising Webber. Vettel is partly to blame but there was no reason Webber was to slow down that corner. Dirty tactics from a Mclaren driver it's great Ron Dennis has taught him well.
hey guys the rule book stipulating that "NO DRIVER IS NOT ALLOWED TO PASS ON WHEN YELLOW CAUTION SAFTY CAR IS OUT" so when you look at it Hamilton was slowing and Webber see's LH slowing and webber puts the anchors on to keep away from geting a pennalty and hey presto two cars calide so dont jump the gun to early boy's.
Hamilton is being investigated. Personally I can't see that he did anything wrong: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=33035
Couldn't have said it any better. I have yet to see a race where the driver didn't try to keep heat in the tyres. I saw Alonso at one point almost on Lewis' gearbox in a turn. . . .Whinny Webber is always making excuses. Tost from STR is a whinner too. This season has really turned into a joke. The last sentence of the article from pitpass says it all. Carol
He is supposed to by regulation stay 5 car lengths behind the safety car. He clearly did not do that based on the video. In fact he went way wide and came almost up beside the safety car. Webber braked more behind the safety car to avoid passing Hami and being possibly flagged for passing LH under the safety car. That's when SV creamed him from behind. I can see Hami being penalized for his driving behind the safety car.
FIA investigating Lewis` erratic driving Thursday 4th October 2007 The title fight could take another dramatic twist with Lewis Hamilton under investigation for his 'erratic' driving behind the Safety Car at the Japanese Grand Prix. The FIA has received new evidence regarding the Championship leader's driving behind the SC and it is claimed that he contributed to the Mark Webber/Sebastian Vettel shunt. It is suggested that stewards have taken receipt of video proof that the British driver was 'slowing up and accelerating excessively'. Article 40.10 of F1's Regulations reads: "The safety car shall be used at least until the leader is behind it and all remaining cars are lined up behind him. Once behind the safety car, the race leader must keep within 5 car lengths of it." A spokesman for the sport's governing body confirmed that Hamilton is under scrutiny for failing to heed this stipulation. "New evidence has been brought to the stewards attention and they are currently investigating the matter," said the spokesman. The accident which saw Webber and Vettel retire from the race was not captured by the official coverage, but a clip on a popular broadcasting website shows Hamilton slowing down and lurching to the right of the circuit. On Thursday Mark Webber slammed Hamilton. The Red Bull driver said: "It [the movement to the right] definitely contributed to Sebastian hitting me up the back because he [Hamilton] wasn't doing what he was supposed to be doing." Hamilton must report to the race stewards on Friday and if Vettel's penalty is anything to go by, the 22-year-old could be punished with a 10-grid slot penalty.
That doesn't seem right to me. Should it not be 'the race leader must keep AT LEAST five car lengths it'? Closer than five car lengths is awfully close at the kind of speeds the safety car does, especially in the wet. If it is at least five car lengths LH was certainly closer. However, my guess would be that they'll take account of conditions and the poor visibility and won't impose a penalty.
No, he is supposed to stay 'within 5 car lengths'. He obviously did this - and then some! I think he made it difficult for those following, but I didn't see him do anything we haven't seen others do many times. Webber, Vettel and the rest should all be making sure they don't slam into the car in front.
It just goes to show you that with the apparently heavy handed FIA neither a team nor driver can claim to "clinch" the Championship until the season is over and sufficient time has passed for the FIA to review any past actions to see if they want to impose draconian sanctions by deducting points...Ferrari may not win the 2007 WCC after all with the new Stepney allegations
