Alonso to FERRARI please, ASAP...Michael would of blocked the crap out of Lewis, if he was not fast enough. Lewis just put an END to Felipe's career with FERRARI. This was one of those classic moments in my opinion where the true abilities of a race driver were exposed. I sort of feel sorry for Felipe, BUT he had his moments in the greatest racing marque ever...but time to step aside my friend, and make room for a real fighter, racer.

    ALONSO + FERRARI = F1 CHAMPIONSHIP...ARE YOU LISTENING FERRARI???

Oh....but they didnt fire MS after he COULD NOT PASS Fernando at San Marino in a car that had as much speed if not more than LH today. I guess we should just fire anyone who was not able to block a faster car today. Re watch the race and fire Kimi as well. He got passed and finished worse. Ferrari was slower today. The world didnt end, really it didnt.

Before I saw Alonso at Montreal this last year, I would have said no way will he be at Ferrari. He really impressed me to be a great driver and anything would be better than what we have now at Ferrari. I have never been a big Massa or Kimi fan. I would like to see Alonso and Nico there. But that is me, I also would love to see Button with Mercedes so we can see what he could do in a good car.

    Ferrari blown away at Hockenheim
    Sun 20 Jul, 05:45 PM

Nine the number of points picked up by Ferrari in the German Grand Prix, thanks to a third place finish for Felipe Massa and a sixth with Kimi Raikkonen. After the first ten races of the season, Massa finds himself second in the Drivers' classification, with Raikkonen third. The team continues to head the Constructors' Championship.

By their own admission, it was a very poor race performance from the defending champions...

    Stefano Domenicali

"This was not a good day and there's no point denying it. Our rivals were stronger than us and we have to work out why, without however getting caught up in nebulous and superficial analysis. For the first time this season in a race, we did not have the pace we had expected to run at, with both Kimi and Felipe. We suffered constantly from a lack of grip and, in the final stages, Felipe's brakes were also overheating which complicated still further the management of his car. The Safety Car offered us the opportunity to give it another go and all things considered, I think we made the right choice in terms of strategy, but when your pace is inadequate, it is therefore difficult to get a good result. We have to work well over the coming days to react in the right manner to return to the level we were at just two races ago."

    Felipe Massa

"It was a difficult race. Right from the beginning, Hamilton's pace seemed unbeatable and I understood that it would be very hard to beat him. I never had good grip and, in the final stages, I also had brake problems and was not even able to attack Piquet, whom I congratulate on the first podium of his career. We must try and understand why, this weekend, we have not been a match for our rivals. They have definitely improved, but I think this was more a case of us having taken a step backwards. However, we are still confident: we have the ability to get out of this situation, right from the next race."

    Kimi Raikkonen

"This was definitely not the kind of race we had been hoping for. We have struggled all weekend and we have to try and understand why. Usually, our race pace is always good, but today that was not the case, because I almost always suffered with a lack of grip: only in the final stages did the situation improve a little bit, but it was never enough to be competitive. We have a test in Jerez, where we will try and improve the car so as to arrive in Budapest in better shape. This is definitely not a crisis, but we have to study carefully the handling of the car to understand if we have taken the right road in terms of development."

    Luca Baldisserri

"This weekend, to be honest, we were not competitive enough to fight for the win. Again today, we did not have the speed to go up against our main rivals. When the Safety Car came out, we opted for a double pit stop and I think that was the right decisions. Then in the final stages of the race, Felipe did not have the right grip level and furthermore, he had problems with his brakes which first prevented him from attacking Piquet and then from adequately fighting off a closing Hamilton. We have to carefully study our situation to try and understand how to return to being as quick as we had been up to a short time ago."

Yeah, what kind of lousy driver can't drive without brakes? After all, if you're going fast, you don't need brakes, right?

When Massa can't get around a Renault, and Kimi can't get around a Toyota, something is just not right.

Kimi's car seemed to suddenly come alive right at the end, but was just slogging around most of the race. Something isn't lined up right, when they can't work out the setup.

Ferrari just plain got beat by a quicker car.
    (And an insanely lucky renault)

I agree it is so tiring to come on here and see Massa bashing. If he were aggressive and got involved in a wreck with no points half off you would whine, now he has a car with brake issues and obviously there were grip issues as your precious Kimi had a lousy weekend also. Be happy one of them at least got on the podium. If piquet did not luck into the pits at the right time Massa would have been 2nd right where he should have been considering the Ferrari was clearly outclassed this weekend

    Get a grip

I think we should just take both drivers out of the cars and hope they can race themselves to a 1 2 finish since clearly Massa and Kimi are not fit to even drive an Italian taxi.

He sucks? Ok, compared to what? A different car that was running faster?

Did you not see the post race interview questions? Both drivers compared of grip issues, which was apparent to me on my TV before I read the transcripts.

Did Kimi do better? Why don't you just say Ferrari sucks? I'm sure you are the same type of fan who will be cheering and will disregard these comments when they win. Don't be so flaky. There will be other races in the championship. We are on the same team, and we will win this year.

For all I know, as an armchair-enthusiast, Massa got all from the car it was willing to give. I was a bit dissapointed to see him gave way to Hamilton so easily, but when I say Piquet doing the same I just figured it was German's national Not-Getting-In-The-Way-Of-Lewis-Hamilton day.

Well said. Reading all these posts has not convinced me about cars and set up. Massa gave up position in a tight turn BEFORE THE TURN WAS HALF FINISHED. I can understand getting out braked, or the 'over and under' move or something. But to just give way, without making the car wider . . . that was a career ender. You think Vettel or Kaz Nakajima or even Button would have given it up that easy?

Having said that, LH passing Hekki after seeing RD on the radio seemed a lot like team orders.

Michael Schumacher said that Massas brakes were gone at that point and that everything beside letting Hamilton pass would have been to risky.

Yep. It doesn't take much to "psych" Massa but he's still second overall. LH was going to get him sooner or later. It seems like we'll have to take the points any way we can this year.

Massa definitely lacks racecraft and skill when he's not in the fastest car, but I don't think he sucks based on todays performance. The Ferrari was MUCH slower than the McLaren and Lewis is MUCH more talented than Massa is. If he had tried to play hardball, his racecraft (lack of) skill would have shown themselves and taken them both out of the race.

Massa did the right thing - he knew when to fight and when to flee... he will live to fight another day and only 4 points down. Had he chosen to play hardball, it's likely he'd crash and Kimi would be laughing all the way to the WDC podium.

There was nothing he could do - his car just didn't have the pace.

As for his brakes, I don't put too much stock in claims of car problems. When have you ever seen a car get passed by another car and the driver say later "well I gave it my best and my car was fine, but he just outdrove me, no two ways about it". They never say that... there is *always* a claimed problem. Barrichello was the master of these excuses - every single loss to MS would be justified by a vibration, a tire problem, a brake problem, a tranny problem, a hydraulic problem, an electronic problem, etc, etc. The only problem Rubens NEVER had in all his years at Ferrari was a driver problem, coincidentally :)

Car was struggling with bad brakes on a slow corner course. It's clear the Ferrari was struggling, so I tend to blame the team for the set up and the preponderance of terrible race prep more than I do Kimi or Felipe. The Ferrari should never lose 2 secs/lap to McLaren this year (unless, of course, the brakes aren't functioning properly)

Disgusting, these comments above. Not the perfromance by Massa or Raikkonen, but the attitude and Monday morning quaterbacking of some of you so called enthusiasts.

Massa raced Hamilton into the corners fairly, I can't say that completely about Hamilton. You want Massa to make his car wider, with problematic brakes, and possibly take himself out of the race? Blocking for how long in in inevitiable situation? Possibly losing another place to a rapidly closing BMW? Obviously, these comments do not come from anyone that understands what is going on in the car during the race.

Statistically, according to the SpeedTV charts, Massa has been one of the two fastest drivers on the track all season, until today only Hamilton came close. Massa finished on the podium holding off the BMW of Heidfeld in a car with bad brakes and no grip! Sounds like pretty effective driving to me.

Did any of you wizards think that possibly the cars sucked and both Massa and Raikkonen did the best they could? Were any of you in their cars with them, or in the pits listening to the discussions with the engineers? If you weren't, YOUR COMMENTS are absolutely moronic. (Notice I refer to your comments) You have NO idea what you are talking about.

There was no career ending performance by Massa, the team actually feels he did well despite the grip and brake issues. Massa is still in the hunt for the WDC, also Raikkonen, and Ferrari still leads the WCC.

What I would like to know is what is wrong with the car, what has happened to make the Ferrari second best? Give Massa and Raikkonen a superior chassis as in the beginning of the year, and they will walk away with the championship.

They are still the best team on the F1 grid.

i think this thread is a joke. did u watch the same race we all watched?

it wasn't like Massa bowed and gave Hammi way, it was just due to the fact that Hammi was too fast.

maybe they could "copy" the McLunken brake system in a tit for tat of last year :)

I love all these superstar comments about how Massa should have held Hamster up , if he had the slightest problem with those brakes then trying to pull it up from 300+ in the last 50 metres is a REAL problem and it usually means braking earlier which gives positions away every time ........ but hasn't Massa used this excuse before? I always thought you had to come up with a different excuse so the engineers didn't catch on ?
