Great article, thanks for the link! Some remarks: If PF1 is so critical about Hamilton, he must be in really deep sh*t! They sum it up excellently: Another great point: The drivers fighting each other in such a situation must really know that the other one won't do anything stupid. I doubt that Webber or Alonso would have risked such a maneuver if their counterpart was someone like Kobayashi or Senna or Maldonado (... or Hamilton )! Anyone got a link to that interview?!
This is so true and, upon reflection after the race, it really was one of the best moments of the year. I held my breath from Raidillon onward. I couldn't have said it better mate! I don't know if this is the exact point of the interview mentioned, but it doesn't seem that "scary" to me. PF1's description made me laugh, though. I'm surprised one of PF1's conclusions is that Alonso, in the 2011 Ferrari, can be passed, by any of the top teams. What is the deal? He was getting passed and passed again. Sorry if I missed it but what do you guys think is going on? I thought the car was improving and was in a good place going into the August holiday. -F
The medium and hard compound tires have been the curse of Ferrari all year. Again at Spa as well. It was the medium(white circle) tires that Ferrari could not get heat into again.
Florian, Deep **** your as good as your last race remember... All the drivers have bad days, and all of them come under the press cosh at some point. Some drivers have more bad days than others, that I admit, but put Vettel mid pack and in a off the pace car, lets see how he fairs. I seem to remember some interesting exchanges, last year.. Getting to the front is the hard bit, but staying there in a great car well..... not bashing Vettel he is fantastic young driver. The best example of highlightening Hamilton's style is Button's style, both ways end up being similar in the results. Drivers that believe they should be above the position they find themselves in, either sit tight and hope for a break, or go for it like Hamilton does wheel-to-wheel racing, I reckon the drivers have had enough of Hamiltons I own the track type driving, so they are hanging him out to dry. And this is why he is so frequently of late coming unstuck. Either way he may change I don't know, personally I think it is a sight to behold him wringing the neck out of the car, but he has ended up with more DNF's than wins, thats life. IMO it has always been his nemesis fighting every corner and everybody like its his last race, if he realizes or wants to set about the season intent only on winning the title, which means collecting the maximum points realistically available instead of fighting tooth and nail in every braking zone, then maybe that is the way he will have to go on, to win another WDC. It ain't rocket science....but Would I want him to change.....nah..
+1 However, it's *much* easier to be "mature" and "grown up" when you're at the front rather than fighting for the minor places..... This is my only reservation about Seb right now - He's got the best car and until Mark learns how to start, a weak teammate - The perfect scenario for a jockey. Lets see how he does with, say, a Merc level car and a kick-ass partner - Something that will happen in the coming years if he wants to approach the level of the true greats. Cheers, Ian
Not according to many here - Which I think was Florians point - Many (constantly) say LH can do no wrong in the eyes of the Brit press. TBH, I pretty much ignore PF1 for that reason, so coming from them it was a pretty damning indictment..... Deep ****? Maybe not, but no longer the free pass to which he's accustomed it seems.... Cheers, Ian
Ian, as regards to the press, I take it all with a nice pinch of salt, I make my own mind up, sometimes I can agree and sometimes I don't. Deep **** I don't think so, maybe I don't read enough to realize he gets free passes, I like certain sources and tend to stick to them. Besides I like to think I write my own history.. History will be kind to me for I intend to write it. Sir Winston Churchill.
Oh and I don't subscribe to the : Your only as good as your last race train of thought, that is in the press domain..IMO.
