Trulli on pole, Button, Alonso, Michael, Kimi, Rubens, Sato, David, Montoya Ralf qualified second but has to drop ten places due to an engine swap
Don't be offended, but I think you might have been a bit more circumspect with the title of this thread as it might spoil it for anyone who didn't see the session live and was planning to catch it later.
Yes, that's true - best to show restraint. Important thing is... you mean well! For reference's sake on how to post results such as this: Note titles on these 2 threads http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11931 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18695 I've contacted admin. to have them change the title, slightly. No worries, okay? You're in no hot water... you'd know if you were, because you'd probably be electrocuted, being on a computer and all... ___ Back to subject... this may be the first time this season folks will second-guess tire choice...
Lets hope they can keep it close for the pit stops. Trulli was flying but how light is he on fuel? Im a bit bummed on the Fcar performance and I cant believe its all down to tires? Maybe its just not our circuit. At least the race line up will be interesting for those who tire of Ferrari domination. Im not tired of Ferrari winning at all. They make the effort
I would not be suprised if Ferrari is running the cars full of fuel because they know they can go that long with the tires They will just wait for the front runners to head for the pits and then run off and hide... Forza Ferrari
Go to the local animal shelter. Get a little puppy. Name him "Clue". Then you can tell everybody you have a clue. Just checking my email and messages before I head upstairs to watch the recorded qualifying....
Just as an addendum, you also got the subject wrong. Michael is 5th, not fourth. 1 7 Jarno Trulli Renault 1:13.985 2 4 Ralf Schumacher Williams-BMW 1:14.345 3 9 Jenson Button BAR-Honda 1:14.396 4 8 Fernando Alonso Renault 1:14.408 5 1 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 1:14.516 6 6 Kimi Räikkönen McLaren-Mercedes 1:14.592 7 2 Rubens Barrichello Ferrari 1:14.716 8 10 Takuma Sato BAR-Honda 1:14.827 9 5 David Coulthard McLaren-Mercedes 1:14.951 10 3 Juan Pablo Montoya Williams-BMW 1:15.039 11 11 Giancarlo Fisichella Sauber-Petronas 1:15.352 12 14 Mark Webber Jaguar-Cosworth 1:15.725 13 17 Olivier Panis Toyota 1:15.859 14 15 Christian Klien Jaguar-Cosworth 1:15.919 15 16 Cristiano da Matta Toyota 1:16.169 16 12 Felipe Massa Sauber-Petronas 1:16.248 17 18 Nick Heidfeld Jordan-Ford 1:16.488 18 19 Giorgio Pantano Jordan-Ford 1:17.443 19 21 Zsolt Baumgartner Minardi-Cosworth 1:20.060 20 20 Gianmaria Bruni Minardi-Cosworth 1:20.115 Michael did poorly in the pre-qualyfing too, coming 13th I believe. Wether fuel loads are the culprit, it's uncertain and we'll have to wait for tomorrow, but one thing is for sure: Trulli has always been a very capable driver at Monaco. Anyone watch the actual thing on TV?
Ralf was moved to 12th beacuse of the engine swap rule. MS and RB are heavy on fuel. Pit Stop Strategy will play a big part. They will end up in 1 and 3.
Ralf will have to start from the 12th position because of a motor change on Thursday so MS will start on the second row next to Alonso. I did see the whole session, Montoya and Sato both had a very fast first section but they made a mistake and lost time. A little mistake in Monaco qualifying will put you back 5-6 places on the grid .
Oh dang *curses at lack of local tv qualifying coverage* Shame for Ralf. Thanks for the heads up, F1.com didn't include that in the result. I hope so (well, or 1 and 2 of course)
Sorry, It won't happen from me again. At least it wasn't the RACE results. Many thanks to those who took the professional approach in enlightening me.
With Ralf moved back will evryone move up a slot or will his #2 grid position be empty? More importantly, does Micheal move up a row? I have seen it both ways - open grid slot and everyone stays where they qualified or everyone moved up one. Michael may still be on the third row, depending on the rules interpretation. This is a new rule this year. I would think that the first 11 move up and Ralf fills the hole in the #12 spot.
If he does start on the third row with the #2 slot remaining empty, he will be on the "clean" side of the track.
As long as the first corner can be cleared without any incidents, I think the Ferraris will be fine as they may be on the 2-stops, with the others on a 3-stops. Thoughts?
Nope, entirely my mistake. Not having seen the TV coverage I didn't hear about Ralf getting bumped back. I think the way it works will see everyone ahead of p12 getting bumped up one spot, since (going off memory here, so could be wrong) a spot is left empty in cases where a car gets penalised all the way to the back of the grid, not 10 positions.
Yes, I believe everyone moves up a spot. They only leave the grid position empty when a car fails to get off on the warm-up lap and gets relegated to the rear. Gary
Yes this is the big question, getting through the first corner. Ferrari's strategy has put them at the mercy of many other drivers, loom at Kimi's comments, he is aiming for a fast start ... at Monaco (unless front row) that means accident! Thus if the Ferraris can get through the first few corners intact then they have a chance ... I actually do not expect that, there are many drivers very keen for a go, especially Kimi and I expect (hope ) to see fireworks at the start of this race. Atleast the first laps will be interesting at last! Pete ps: for those that are moaning about the results of qualifying in the subject title ... get a life guys and girls. If you really wanted to see qualifying without knowing the results WHY the heck did you come on the internet and to a RACING forum!. How stupid is that!!!! When I tape a race, I talk to nobody (that I know is a motorsport fan) and if I have to (ie. work) I start the conversation with DO NOT TELL ME THE RESULTS ... I definitely DO NOT log on to a Racing forum! Thus while the title should not contain the results, don't blame everybody else for your own stupidity!, try thinking next time , we are supposed to be grown-ups here
I am confident both the ferraris will have an interesting race / pit stop strategy. They have gone for the reliable and durable bridgestones rather than the one off flying first lap tyres. MS also complained that he had lesser grip because he had to go out for his qualifying lap early due to pre qualifying result. The first lap will not be clean. The ferraris will hold back from confrontation and pit stops will bring them both on the podium or at least 2 of the top four.
If you think about it for a millisecond, you'll realize that the title to the thread ALSO appears on the main page. Therefore even those who are avoiding the racing forum have no choice but to see the thread title. Is a little common courtesy too much to ask?
