Lewis is the F1 points leader and a rookie. Not very classy to shun him IMVHO. And not very smart management. What will they gain by alienating the man? Council him, coach him and teach him. Don't shun him. Of course, all this works to Ferrar's advantage. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys. Forza Ferrari.
Depends on whether you believe Alonso or Hamilton from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2007/08/06/nosplit/smgars106.xml
Ugh ... hope Ham and his crane remain exactly where they are ... and Ferrari nvr sign such an artificially composed poptart package. 1. Ham screwed his own team. 2. Thanks to him + FIA, a potentially competitive event became boring refuse. Only Ham could think that race was in his words "enjoyable". Kimi was much closer to reality - boring. I bet if McL was as surreptitiously obtuse as Ferrari and sent Ham out without fuel, the Alonso haters would scream foul play and the FIA would very benevolently' step in, for the sake of 'competition' of course, and place him on a pedestal. I'd like to see someone like V. Rossi, with passion and some real pazzo temperament at Ferrari. Keep the machines at McL.
or the always biased as hell British media. Watch ITV and all you'll hear is Ham this Ham that, god's gift to f1.
All of a sudden it looks like Ferrari were genuises when they had a no.1 driver during the Schumacher era.
And Fred's the current WDC, BFD ? Both drivers and both teams by that I mean FIAT & Merc need to pull their heads out of their respective a$$es and just drive. Both teams are walking around all butt hurt.
Lewis repeatedly ignored team orders, screwed up their qualy strategy, ran to the FIA screaming bloody murder which cost FA his pole and the team WCC points for the race, and THEN got in a cussing match with RD. Lotsa respect for the man and the team that put him on the map, yes? If I were RD, I'd give Lewis a two race vacation to think about his role in the team.
Never gonna happen. He's in 1st overall. He's their best chance for Driver's champoinship, and who would you stick in his seat to get Constructor's points?? Nah, they'll get over it, it's worth too much $$$ not to. DM
Yeah, I know it won't happen. People lose their balls when the almighty $ is around. McLaren pretty much have the WDC tied up now, so why not sit him out for a few races? As it stands now, flip a coin and it'll land either Lewis tails or Alonso heads. Bench Hamilton and it'll be Alonso heads or Alonso tails for the WDC. As for his replacement, I'd stick Mika in there if Schumi was too busy. Or even ole Nigel. Or even you; it'd only be for two races.
Never going to happen. McL and RD are the same people that made sure they had plans of the competition car in their possession to gain an advantage, to study them, to see where they are lacking. Those people would never suspend their driver that is comfortably leading the drivers championship and ensuring their constructor championship at this point. Secondly, LH was on the map way before McL took him under contract. It was simply a question of which F1 team would pick him up.
You think Ferrari sent Massa out without fuel on purpose, so that they could label Kimi as their #1 driver and get Massa to put on the Barrichello hat?
pointless. Kimi is just 1 point ahead of Massa because of that. Mark my words, Massa will bounce back in Turkey.
I think LH may be a good driver but to hit the WCC so well is surprising. Alonso has been quoted as saying he copys his set up? Being in a good (i saw with clenched teeth) Car and with someone like Alonso, who has the same talent as Shumi in setting up a car, has helped him enormously. If he had gone to Williams, who are on the way back with a strong car, I think he would be running at the rear? Sorry LH fans my 0.02cents worth Forza Ferrari
Hallelujah!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Finally someone is daring enough to deny Hamilton sainthood!! The kid is a fantastic talent, but no saint, and with sooo much success so early, he's starting to drink his own kool-aid. Keep watching this space...........
I don't think you've quite got that in the correct sequence. Ron is probably more responsible: If he wanted Lewis to drop behind Kimi, he should have said so. If I'd been in Lewis's place, I wouldn't have parked waiting for Alonso to catch up, either, unless the team had made clear that they wanted to slow the pace, even at the cost of letting Kimi go up front. Lack of communications. And if you'll recall the post qualifying interview, Hamilton was saying he would have to ask the team about that (after he'd been in the cussing match with RD). It was the press that was screaming to the stewards and the FIA about it. And given that the whole "count down" strategy appears to have been intended to block Kimi's qualifying runs, I don't think anyone on that team can claim to be completely blameless. Hamilton might claim being a bit naive, though. I don't think it's really gotten as bad as Prost-Senna yet, though: http://www.f1complete.com/content/view/5679/617/ -- they haven't been crashing each other out, .... yet. Turn one at Turkey could be ... interesting. I don't think Alonso can count on Ham tanking his own race to avoid tagging his teammate, the way Fisi did last year. (Just before Alonso started crying about not getting "support" from his teammate.)
So if LH copied Alonso's setup...and finishes in front of him so many times....that means Alonso is not as good of a driver as LH is.
No he was smart enough to realize his talent and to wait out for a better ride, which presented him with the McL offer. But yes I'd bet that he would have shown great things in a Honda or STR as well. Spyker I am not sure. They need a few more years (if they survive). The first ride and how you handle it shows your talent. In a STR he may have not come in 1st or 2nd but 10th, out-driving his teammate by 5-6 places.
