*SPOILER* PlanetF1 Conclusions from Race 1

the aerodynamics are dictating the end of F1. Drivers aren't able to get close to the front car without loosing the aero-support...this almost takes out possibilities of overtaking...which leaves a very dull race!!! What kept F1 a little bit interesting was the refuelling stops...that gave a tactic dimension to f1...now it has nothing keeping it interesting...only the launches of cars are interesting...to find out the new technologies brought up by the teams...

hoping to see some changes...let's see if this weekend's race gets a little bit better

 

This has been happening for many, many years and yet passes still happened when we had quality drivers such as Senna, Prost, Mansell and (once young and fired up) Schumacher.

If the FIA made it 20 points for a win and only 9 for second passing would happen.

Yes watching cars just going around and around is very boring.

Hmmm, but having a refuelling stop guarantees that passing will NEVER occur on the track and thus we have "cars just going around and around". Now we both have already just agreed (see above) that this is very boring so I don't understand why you want refuelling returned. We need instead to encourage passing on the TRACK, hence why the FIA did exactly the right thing and removed the refuelling stop.

Back in the good days of F1 there were no stops at all and the races were exciting and tactical as the drivers had to decide when to push and when to conserve, etc.

Anyway using a pitstop to leap frog somebody is NOT passing and no where near as interesting. If that floats everybody elses boat on this site I'm surprised you are all not life members of lawn bowls, bingo or something equally dull. Again, as I've said many times, go and watch club racing to get a demonstration of PROPER racing and enjoy the excitement of real passing.

KERS was an interesting technology but I think only improved the show in 2009 because only some cars had it. If all the cars had KERS, everybody would be using it at the same time and in the same places, so there would not be much difference.

there isn't much incentive to win. i hate to agree with bernie but i did like the medal idea. first, second and third. everything else is a zero. push to win or go home. also drop the limit on the number of engines that can be used in a season.

But why limit the number of engines per season? The driver could be forced to save the engine for the next races. I´d suggest at least one engine per race.

 

We have the same opinion on that too...I also think that changes must be done in order to allow overtaking on the track... but in the actual state of F1, the races would be a little bit better with the refuelling...at least something a little bit more exciting could happen!!!

Always loved Brawn's strategies when he was with Ferrari...they were brilliant!!!

 

Well it was left up to the teams whether to use it or not, and maybe your right but it was left up to driver skill when to use it or not, unlike wait till he pits ect.

Because you could only use it in short blasts I think it was a cool idea, it added a variable to the actual racing pace, and it was aimed at overtaking and defending, it wasn't going to be the answer but IMO it was in the right direction.

And if they had just stuck at it they would have got it to work better/properly and the technology would have flowed to production cars ... which stopped many, many years ago as F1 went simply sideways.
