Very impressed by what Button has done this year, which is basically don't screw up and drive a competitive car properly. This qualifying results back up my point about the car coming first. As long as the car is competitive and the driver does his job they should do well. Any driver at the F1 level has tons of talent. BAR and Renualt are competitive this year. Button has been consistent and it is reflected in him having the third most driver's points. Sato has his moments of brillance but has not been as consistent. The Renault drivers are doing a very respectable job. JPM and RS are close with JPM having an edge, but they do have an underperforming car. The Mclarens are not competitive but it is clear that KR has perform consistenly better than DC. Webber still needs a better ride to prove himself.

Based on the results so far it is fair to say that Button is a talented driver with six podium finishes already.

I don't want to hear about so and so sucks, they are all good drivers, if not they wouldn't be there.

What about Sato, he is showing good form. Considering
he has the least experience at indy of all the first 3 rows.

I expect to see Sato take himself and some other unfortunate(s) out on the first turn. Should be an exciting start. You definitely want to be ahead of this guy on the starting grid, but no one is really safe from this kamikaze.

    Dear Mt Todt,

I dunno why but Rubens is on pole, possibly because he was quicker in qualifying. As he is ahead of MS could you plese not f**k with his car during pitstops, have his tyres ready and staff smart enough to know how to change them. Then, all things being equal (and hoping MS hasn't demanded Rubens let him pass immediately, whether MS is quicker or not) Rubens may get a shot at winning the race.

    Which would be nice.

    Thanks

    James

Very nice run, RB. My guess is a few pounds less fuel and he will have to pit first, then MS will take the lead and keep it, unless some mishap occurs.

What exactly does his contract say? Does he have to let MS pass as soon as the race starts, or just at some point before the finish line?

Ok first of all, Ruben's contract is not public. No one outside of Ferrari mangement has ever read it. So anybody that claims to know what it says is talking garbage.

Secondly, Micahel and Rubens both are sensible drivers. They will race with each other without risking each others chances to finish. They are not like JPM and Ralf. Juan is not intelligent so he ends up running into Ralf thereby ending the Williams team race hopes in turn 1.

Michael has never asked for Rubens to move aside. The one time it did appen was an order given directly from Jean and Ross. The team orders given was a good idea. Because if the 2002 season would have been closer and Schumacher would have lost the championship by those points then it would have been a stupid thing not to do. So all in all Rubens and Michale are equal drivers for Ferrari. Just over 2 hours to go... :D

    we shall see!

That's interesting about nobody knowing his contract, I didn't know that.

The countdown begins. I'm sure there will be much to discuss in a few hours.

Good race, as expected a Ferrari 1-2, during the mid-race RB was running faster than MS but somehow MS always end up taking the flag. Sato earned his podium finish since he had to pass half the field from 11th place after his second pit. He's the most exciting driver right now, liked how he pressured Trulli to go off the field to take over 3rd place, he's acting like a japanese jpm now, great for the sport!

The William's house is a complete mess, after the Montreal incident and now JPM being black flag for using the wrong car you have to question how incompetent are the team's management.

Mclaren is quite patethic if you consider how much money and experience they have invested in that team.

Actually, based on the antics, I'd guess when JPM arrived they quoted the rules to him and said "too late, you can't switch"... so he took off... but then they figured they're out anyway, might as well give it a try, maybe no official would call them on it... (I wouldn't have... I like seeing a driver willing to sprint to the garage to stay in the race... I don't like JPM much, but I respect what he did today... and its a shame it didn't count for anything in the end.)
