It seems every race we get a few spoilers in the titles. Is it possible to change the setup of the forum on race days to prevent something like that? Maybe have a feature when someone clicks "start new thread," a box pops up stating no spoilers and the user has to actually type out "I will not put spoilers in the title" before being allowed to post. And if they still break that rule, ban them on next race day. This is getting ridiculous. I'm just glad I woke up in time for this race this time.

Don't log on, or don't get on the internet if you haven't watched the race. I have no sympathy for you.

that's not the point, forum rules are rules. besides, thread titles show up on the main page of F-chat, don't need to be in Racing Tracking to see spoila's busta!

It's against forum rules to post spoilers. It's inconsiderate.

    But:

Anyone who seriously doesn't want to learn the results of a completed race before he watches a replay should stay off the Internet completely. Heck, the Turkish GP results were headlined on cnn sports. Spoilers could come up on a Google search.
People get on the "information superhighway" and complain about finding information?

But if Massa wins two more, it's going to be nearly impossible to prevent some kind of spoiler post. ;)

I taped the race and watched it on Sunday night. I made sure I listened to no radio and watched no TV during the day. When I went out I didn't wear my Ferrari cap in case someone decided to strike up a conversation with me. I certainly wouldn't have logged on to the internet!
However I do think that people should try to avoid spoilers when they can.

Do you intend to ban all media WORLDWIDE too on race days?

Because race results are on many websites, TV channels, and radio stations as they are announced!!

Best solution for you is to avoid plugging any of them!!

Also, knowing the result of a race, doesn't detract from the pleasure of watching it and seeing how it unfolded, unless of course you are only interested in the score!!

Race day posts on this forum allow the active cooperative members to discuss the race as it unfolds. There is no reason why this cannot continue and why the term **SPOILER** should not be used. It serves a purpose. There is also no reason why anyone should have to avoid other non-current threads for the day just because some of you do not understand the purpose of the SPOILER heading.

Not all threads have a really descriptive headings, so if you do not want to know event results, avoid the SPOILER headings. There are other topics being discussed that have no bearing on current events, no need to avoid those for fear of ruining your TIVO moment.

Simple solution, if one does not like the word **SPOILER** in the heading of a thread, just do not read the thread. Stop trying to control the world, you are in the minority here anyway.

There is a good reason why the **SPOILER** concept was started, so to suggest that one avoids the internet so as to not know what is going on is really inane. I suggest that you just avoid reading spoiler threads so you do not get upset with the concept and allow those that want to participate in a current event discussion to do so.

You're missing the concept. This complaint is about threads that have race results in the title, not the official race threads.

The problem on Sunday was that somebody posted something to the extent of "Massa Third Time Turkish Grand Prix Winner" giving away a spoiler in the title. As you know when you post a new thread it appears up on the main page of FChat and you don't even have to go into R&T.

You shouldn't go to FChat if you haven't seen the race, but you also shouldn't put spoilers in the title.

The people that say don't go online if you don't want to know the results should consider that some people work on Sundays and don't get the chance to see the race till they get home. I've had many a race ruined because of some a**hole that doesn't read forum rules, including this Sunday's. Any thread should not have race results in the title, period end of story.

Personally, until I watch a race I don't visit any websites that even might remotely have a chance of having race news on it. I have enough other stuff to do to withstand not checking a few websites for a day or two.

Why is there even debate about this?

The rules are the rules. I find it incredibly arrogant and selfish for people to say "I don't feel sorry for you, don't visit F-chat then". So if I drive like an ****** and spin out and go into your yard and run over your dog, then I say "well he should have been on a leash anyway, too bad" - how would you react? The rules are very clear. No spoilers in thread titles.

What negative impact does it have on people just to follow the damn rules? None. None at all. It does not limit what can be discussed. It in no way negatively impacts the content of the forum or the posts here. All that's being asked is that spoilers be kept in the threads, not in the thread titles. It takes no effort at all to comply with this rule, and it's just a good-neighborly thing to do for your fellow f-chatters. To say "too bad, deal with it" is the rudest thing I can imagine.

I agree with the previous poster - noobs who violate this rule deserve a 10-day ban and old timers need 30 days. Or, the first offense should be a "once race ban" (whether it's 1, 2 or 3 weeks to the next race), and the next ban ought to be 3 races, then a season.

Alternately, a popup window telling folks not to post spoilers would be a good idea too.

IMO this is one of the very few areas where the moderation could be better (ducks for cover). Too few reprimands/timeouts given for people who constantly violate the rule and when told to please respect it can only rudely say "touch cheese, its your fault, deal with it".

You would think that it's common sense, but some people can't just help it.
They look for the results and then blame those who post them!

I'm in the "don't go online if you havent watched the race camp"
if you are really that intent on not having the results spoiled for you- resist the urge to indulge in Fchat fora few hours prior to watching the dvr recording of the race.
Like its been said- CNN had race results- I wasnt happy to find out Hekki finished 2nd from ESPN- but hey my bad for checking the site out

Sorry but that analogy is like taking a **** on your ferrari, and telling you it's your fault. In other words it sucks. I don't think the moderaters should ahve to baby sit some of the whiners on here who were not able to have some restraint. Don't get me wrong i'm NOT, and i want to make this clear, I AM NOT supporting putting spoilers in titles. frankly i don't care. What i find annoying is when people come on a ferrari board or the internet in general who have not watched the race and expect to not see a thing about the weekends race. For god sakes people, don't ever take any drugs because i'm sure you'd all be addict after the first taste!

And honestly a thread like "No spoiler's in title please!" comes up every race weekend. This is getting old very fast. Go ahead and argue with me because it's what some of you do but, deep down you all know i am right on the money with this one. ;)
