The base Sport GT in France goes for 120.000 €
    In the USA , it goes for 112.000$ ( Or 82.000 € ) .

Thats a 38.000€ difference if you want a car in France or in the USA.

    Maybe it is tax related?

just checked, the current price in Holland is 119900, which is actually 1500 down on last years' price. Taxes in Holland are stiff, so the US price seems to be quite reasonable....
A thread about European car prices will never cease to amaze our overseas friends, which are still getting the bargain, in spite of the fact that the dollar lost about half of its value against the Euro in a couple of years. (There was a time when one dollar was worth 1.25 Euro. Now it is just the opposite, one Euro gives you more than 1.25 dollar.

On this basis it is also not surprising that a Corvette Z06 sets you back with 115,000 Euro, still cheaper than the base maserati

In SPain the normal QP is 126.000,- so I guess the Sport GT is around 135.000,- We have a 12% special tax and 16% VAT. But in the UK I was told the QP is around 160.000Eu....If the USD keeps this weak, USD-hedges of carmakers will run out and prices will skyrocked in the US....

Which would be good news as far as resale goes for people who bought the cars at current prices.

Its hard to understand how a euro car can cost more in Europe than in the USA ? I know the $ is pretty weak at the moment but is that the only reason ?

Id think that a Maser costs X out of the factory and then you send it to France where it will cost X + taxe + transport or to the USA where it will cost X + taxe + transport .

Do US dealers get a better price because Maserati is still weak in the US ? Or because they order more car per dealer ? ( If that ? ) ?

many cars are very cheap in the US even after correcting for several tax differences. The big companies (BMW, Mercedes etc.) have big USD hedges so they actuall sell the car much more expensive then it seems: However that hedge will expire one day. Don't know Fiat/Maserati's $ policy but is is the only reason I see since gross margins on cars are not that big to explain such a difference on marketing decisions alone....
