I've been casually watching the World Series and one thing really continues to bother me about MLB teams and players. All the way up from "T" ball, little league, etc. we teach our kids the merits of sportsmanship including the tradition of lining up after the game and congratulating the winning team by passing by and shaking hands. Why is it that once people start making money for playing a child's game do they stop this most obvious display of sportsmanship. Instead they line up and congratulate themselves by high-fiving their own teammates!! Why bastardize such a simple show or sportsmanship?

OK I'll get down off my soapbox now, thanks for letting me vent!!

I watch a lot of international soccer (I know, not a great cross section) and they tend to show a little more of this "hey, its over, let's be friends again" attitude. American sports are sometimes about putting others down as much as performing at your highest level yourself.

I wish they would continue it too.

I don't think money has anything to do with it though. It's still done in the NFL and NBA, and other sports.
