Red F430 spyder in S.F. at fisherman's warf around 2. Was putting on an engine noise show for the tourists as he went past pier 39. I overheard someone next to me say 'What is that?' and his friend say 'I've no idea'. heh.

Also saw a blue Elise at The Cliff House in S.F. a few hours later.

Actually, I only stop driving when I need to run inside to add to the spotter's thread...then back behind the wheel as fast as possible.

The F430 in front of me was my brother in his 360 (for some reason it's frequently spotted as a 430...the mistake doesn't seem to bother my brother!) I can go one worse though...I pulled into a Chevy dealer once and the sales guy thought my car was the new Mustang. Ouch.

Got onto the freeway (highway 99, Modesto) yesterday afternoon, heading north, saw a brand new (no plates) Maserati Quattroport in front of me. Tried for about a mile to pull up next to him (in my Modena) and say hi, but for some strange reason, it was all he could do to prevent that from happening. He finally saw an opening and took off. Have no idea what's up with that.

    hahaha,
i never got a clean visual but it has something to do with the rear glass, thats what made me think of the 430. i was sitting passenger at the time as the A8 is the wifes car.

when i was turning into the shoping center on friday afternoon off eldorado blvd. i spotted you going by, i stopped for gas then onto silva via the theaters. from there it went down hill, i had a new deputy in his last days of training get all worked up over the noise level of the exhaust. he pulled me over strictly based on how loud the car was, i politly noted to thim that there wasn't anything i could do about it and he agreed but it gave him a reson to stop me and look for a reason to ticket me. which he did, for lack of prrof of insurance. and it was written as a fix it ticket. i had my insurance but it was in the glove and on the mondi the glove wont open unless you start the car and with the newbie being trigger happy and nervous i wasn't about to start the car on him.

i'll have take the time to do a write up on the stop as it was very entertaining and took 30mins. in the end i had my nieghbor swat guy sign off on the ticket and he was amused by the incedent also.

I have a dumb question: what does it mean when someone says "I had an officer sign off on a ticket"? I presume it gets rid of the ticket, but how does it work? Do they just find it in the files at the station and tear it up? Or, do they actually sign something? I might need to know someday (I would like to be prepared just in case).

When someone violates a "non-moving" offense of the CA. Veh. code: i.e. loud exhaust, no front plate, tinted front windows, not carrying proof of insurance, or anything that can be "fixed" or corrected, then the officer has the discretion to write a "fix-it" ticket which is merely a regular ticket with the box checked off next to the violation cited that usually reads "correctable". When this happens, then whoever is receiving the ticket can show proof of the correction to any other officer and ask him/her to "sign it off" or verify that the correction has been made. All you need to do after that is send the ticket to the local traffic court, usually with a $12 processing fee and the violation is taken care of. If you get a cool officer that is more concerned with if someone is or is not going to take hostages and commit multiple random acts of murder (like a SWAT cop), then they sometimes sign it off without you actually "fixing" anything outside of a large mocha frappucino.

    Hope that helps.

And finally, to keep this in line with the thread: Red TR Friday 4-28 in SF North Beach

Just got home from having dinner in Burlingame. Spotted a few exotics on the way there.

Saw a red/tan 360 spider on 280N near San Bruno.

Then when I got to downtown Burlingame, I saw a red F430 and red Diablo both parked on Burlingame Ave.

After 10 minutes I saw a red 360 spider drive by Straits Cafe.

    Craziness!

6:35 PM, Fair Oaks Ave. and Morse, by Loehmann's Plaza in Sacramento - Silver Carrera GT! First one I've ever seen not in an auto show.

LOVELY sound - any chance the owner wants to trade for my Elise? :)

The day before yesterday, I pulled up to a red F355 spider traveling west along Stoneridge Blvd. in Pleasanton. Two gorgeous honies (looked like mom and daughter) honked, smiled and waved. Cool!

Hey you're gonna get me busted, my wife reads the forum too you know!

Seriously, did it really seem like I was driving fast? I thought I was just going normal speed...the last thing I need is a bad reputation in my home town (lived here 39 years). Actually a bad rep anywhere isn't a good thing now that I think about it...I try to stay off the gas if there's anyone in sight or earshot.
