Most important is quality of microfibre towel.. And if the towel was washed once...make sure you did not run through the dry cycle till completion ...stop the dry cycle at about 80% dry...and let air dry, or use a new towel..never use softener. anal right? but serious detailers know better. A feather duster is a must before you touch paint with cloth.. Personally I have been using aerosol windex first followed by a detailer spray.. The windex removes any contaminants in view. Mothers detailer and spray wax are actually great products. I am a firm believer that Wax is not necessary after the best of a 4 or 5 step polishing.. If you finish the polishing with the finest of polish...you are done...wax can help..but really can be done without...Then a spray detailer adds a topcoat look. I only use 1 coat of Zymol yellow on top. That technique works for me..In the Brightest Sun , my Black 512 received....A No deductions score at FCA concours probably the toughest finish to work with and show in the sun. Not if he is using quality products and microfibers, along with proper technique. In that case it's better for the finish than bucket washing.
Anything you do after a final polish scratches the paint. I think Larry Kosilla calls it " love marks "....
