I bought it at the RM Phoenix auction in January. I have been looking for an alloy bodied 6 carb car for several years and I finally bought this one at much money than I ever thought I would spend. In retrospect I think I got a bargain. It is really everything it is supposed to be. It looks wonderful, but more importantly for me, it drives beautifully. The noise it makes is so sixties and modern Ferraris just don't sound that good next to these wonderful 40 + year old cars. This particular car is really light, having no bumpers as well as an alloy body and it it really feels nimble. It has lousy brakes but you learn to anticipate things driving old cars
The 275 GTB is one of my favorite vintage designs. Congratulation! I could see a Cal Spyder fitting in that garage quite nicely.
Hehe lol, you said earlier that some of the cars had to go to make room for the older and rarer cars - So, which did you part with? Or did you keep all of them I have a feeling you kept all of them didnt you?
Is it ok to cry after seeing those pictures? The F50 and Carrera GT are on the top of cars i MUST own when im older...
Nice lot of cars there. Good taste overall. Do you employ a mechanic to maintain them or do you share this duty or do it all yourself? I don't see where you'd find the time if so, but regardless you are among rarefied air. Very few attain to this level.
Here are some random answers to some of the questions asked here: 1. The cars are all driven, along with the others in the collection at least every two weeks. I use a nice little route through the area I live in to give them at least a half hour of running time, enough to circulate the fluids adequately. I drive the more modern cars more frequently, on longer drives and they are designated for use on a particular day. The F40,F50, CS and 599 fall into that category 2. I have access to a very competent tech, who uses space in one of my buildings for his shop and does maintenance in exchange for the space. 3. The single post lifts were bought from AC lifts (a sponsor on this site). They arranged for delivery to their installer who delivered and installed them 4. The F50 was red from the factory, painted Azzuro (with black headlights) by its first owner and then returned to its original Rosso Corsa, but the headlights remained black after the 2nd paint job 5. The Aston is a DB4GT Lightweight with some race history. Apparently one of two LHD Lightweights, but I don't know that fact for certain 6. Favorite to drive? Tough question. I love the old cars, especially the Aston and the 275GTB because they sound so unique, but I drive the 599 every day. The 410 is driven least of all, because it has become so ridiculously valuable that I am very careful about having it out on any day other than very early on a Sunday when there is no truck traffic around. The CS is by far and away the best track car, but the CGT is a close second 7. Jonas asked about cars being sold. Yes, there are several sold or about to be sold but I can't say yet what the outcome of all this will end up being. The objective is less but rarer.
are you planning to add a Miura in your collection ? that car holds the title of the world's most beautiful ever ... a true MUST HAVE in any respected collection as yours ....
Again, I'll be redundant and give another round of praises and respect for your collection. It's very well-rounded and considered. And thank you for your time in answering our queries. Good show.
Your collection is indeed impressive and exudes class - and I couldn't agree more about the Enzo. Not that I could ever afford one, but it just isn't my style. Any thought of going the Napolis direction and have a one-off built for you?
It has been consigned to the Maranello RM Auction on May 18, so not sold yet, but if it fetches the kind of money Spyders have seen in recent auctions it will almost certainly go to a new owner. I loved it but found it impractical as a driver. It was like driving naked - no seat belts in the Euro version, low waistline and certainly very little to protect the occupants in case of a wreck. I don't feel right parking my cars and if I don't feel right driving them then I have no real reason to own them.
is this the same garage but with different cars, or another garage at your place. or another garage off site came accross this pic in the "garage" thread Image Unavailable, Please Login
