First of all thanks everybody for coming, despite the obvious ACID rain threat! And to everyone that didn't make it because of it - we got to the resturant 10 mints before the rain started! Just went over the numbers and I'm glad to say that we have collected over $3.000 in donations for the foundation. Another achivement for the Exotix Run was that NOBODY GOT LOST! This was a 1st (we're not counting Shivam missing an exit) and a result of learning from previous runs and chosing an easier route. The roads were great with great scenary and the cops were nice (the sticker magnets helped some people get out of tickets). The turnout ranged from Z06s and Vipers to Ferraris and Lambos to Phantom and Bentleys to Porsches and Skyline etc... Thanks to, All the participants Gotham Dream Cars Champion MotorGroup MMC See you all at Summer Exotix Run! Regards, Hovik
Hovik, u da man 360 spider: 160k charity donation 200.00 seeing that pimple faced teenager smoke the tires on his honda with no door handle and giving us the finger....PPPPPRRRRRIIICCCEEEEELLLEEESSS It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. What a great crowd, great cars, overall great time. We cut out after the rest area car was having some issues...again! Anyone say LAMBO time I want to thank everyone again for there generosity. Now lets post up some pics and vids Rocco
+1 Ha ha ha... That was unbelievable. Utterly priceless. Rocco it was nice to meet you. JDogg, it was really nice seeing you again and finally meeting Jordan. Shivam, Joey, Faisal, Robbie and everyone else I'm sure I forgot, great seeing you all again. Hovik, you are really learning to make an art out of this. My passenger and I had a great time. This might have been my last run for a while, as there is a very good chance the 308 is going to be on the market soon. We'll see...
I forgot to add one thing... I want to give a special "shout out" (does anyone still say that anymore?) to a dear friend who's had some...car trouble...lately and wasn't on the run with us. Clyde, you were thought of and missed. Hope you're well buddy. J.
Congrats on the run Hovik, tip for next time dont turn away people willing to come donate money to the cause because they dont drive exotic cars. Its about charity, and enjoying driving. Neither should require exotic cars.
yeah same. Lets grab dinner or something one of these days. It was great meeting you and seeing the yellow spyder, whens the lambo arriving
Thanks Robi. Its hard as is to do a run with 60+ cars, I don't even imagine what it would be like to have 200, 300+ cars. I'm only 1 person. Even finding gas stations, resturants and rest areas that can accomodate so many cars is near impossible. We would have to be driving from one mall to another.
then pick better criteria on which to exclude people. Open to first 60 willing particpants. Opening an event to as many exotic cars that will show up, and turning away non-exotics is not limiting the size of a run. Remember its all for charity, it doesn't have to be the most organized as long as you knowcan prepare for the number of people in advcance. The point of charitable runs it to raise as much $ as possible.
Good organization was what I concentrated on the most. It wouldn't be difficult at all to get 50 M5s, 100 Vettes and another 1K G35s, 350Zs, SL500s and etc... I understand what you're saying and thanks for the advice. Will deffenetly work on a better crieria next time.
Does not make sense to post an event on a "public" forum that excludes the majority of the membership that do not own an "exotic" but are car enthusiasts. "Guys, there's no nice way of saying this and not sound like a snob" I guess that quote says it all. Glad you raised money for a good cause, but you could have raised so much more.
That would have required alot more work than I have the time for. I'm only 1 person with a day job. Don't have a staff of 4 people working 24/7 on making the event happen. The event was EXOTIX RUN, it got combined with a charity and with your help a raffle. Everybody is out there giving advices and critisizing what I did and did not do. Why isn't any of those with negative comments organizing something? I put time and effort into this, spent $1K out of my own pocket on driving the route, printing materials..etc..etc.. and gathered funds to donate to a good cause. The event went smooth and everybody enjoyed it. Why all the negativity? All these smart people who think that I would have collected alot more if I let everybody come, go ahead and organize one. I'll make sure to help you by sending invitation emails to everybody I know about your event.
Hovick, you did a great job. Great run, great people, great cars. Yes a 150k donation would have been nice, but all things considered it was an enjoyable time for everyone. Spoke to a few of the board members of the foundation today and they are all thrilled on what we accomplished yesterday. Given the holidays, the 60th anniversary run on Saturday and NYMC run yesterday and a dreary forecast we had a great turnout. Sunny day, no other events there is no doubt we would have raised a lot more! Keep up the good work bro! GDC thanks again for your contribution on the raffle also!!!
Ok gents... Rob, Hovik, Ed --- these are all good guys I'm glad to have as friends, so I don't particularly want to get in the middle of this...but.... I think people who are quick to criticize need to step back a second. Hovik puts a good deal of time and effort into organizing these things, and he always opens it up for thoughts before the runs. If people don't like the plans, maybe let him know before the run instead of making after-the-fact judgments. I think this was meant to be a combination performance driving event and charity rally. There are legitimate reasons why you don't want to open the field to minivans and stationwagons and no-door-handle-Civics like the one that greeted us at the gas-station. Part of why we all do this is to see that incredible line of Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches and similar cars coming down the road. Just not the same otherwise. I'm not even going to *think* of starting the "what is an exotic debate" -- that's been done to death, but you have to draw the line somewhere, IF that is a line you want to draw at all. In this instance, surely, having more people could have meant a bigger donation amount. But this was Hovik's choice to make and he, as he said, can only do so much. If you disagree, it's fair to let him know in a constructive way, but not more than that. If someone thinks they can do better, do it! There's no reason any of us can't organize a run ourselves. Sunday's run was a good one, I think Rebeka's father was very pleased, and some money was raised. It's a good cause, and if you want to give more, feel free to donate directly. Hovik provided the direct link in his initial announcement.
Nice to meet you too, Rocco. I LOVE the 308. It is my absolute favorite body design. In my opinion, it is Pininfarina's most iconic body. But I'm not a rich man, and I can't afford to have it AND a 355, and I WANT a 355 (or a 360, but that's out of range). So there you have it.
