That's a Jackpot! I wish I could've seen it on the road, more exciting to see (speaking for myself) then Enzo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Speaking of time warp. Went neck and neck for a couple of minutes with an original Porsche Speedster on Hwy. 83 headed toward Oakbrook. Looked and sounded absolutely perfect. Then later as I was making a left onto York I ran into the red Cali demo from CAS with a prospective buyer behind the wheel. Gave them a wave and goosed it a little bit as I went by in the opposite direction. Was at CAS yesterday having my car looked at and was told they have a two year supply of orders for the Cali. Didn't ask how many they are getting this year and or next. I'm still waiting for the launch of a 599 spider!
Seriously.... I've never seen one on the road before. Few at shows (Monterey, for example). I've even seen a McClaren F1 on the road.... now a M1. Brilliant car! Kudos to the owner (or the guy washing / parking it!)
Jackpot indeed! I watched them racing in the early eighties as part of the GP weekends (piloted by GP drivers). Also saw the art M1s at the museum in Munich. Today's spotting: Tony Tag's 360 is back at North Avenue Beach.
I remember these races too, much more exciting then the actual F1 races that followed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wouldn't say that, but they were exciting because everybody had the same equipment. They were definitely much more exciting than today's A1GP races or the Porsche cup etc.
AHAHAHA I pulled up next to him on MI ave last week in my Gallardo and I could not get my phone out fast enough for a pic. I have a file of close ups of his abomination of a car someplace, the Smokey & The Bandit 360 spyder. I live on the lake so I will see him alot as I bike 100 miles a week along the lakeshore. To the guy spotting the M1 I cant believe you didnt get a pic. I saw one street parked in Lincoln Park around 1990. Only one I have ever seen what a rare car.
Going opposite ways on the highway. No chance. Besides, I was in shock... Monterey 2008 (plus my other fav BMW) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here one shot from 1980 Brands Hatch and the rest from the 2007 Barrington Concours show. However my fav remains the Andy Warhol car. Wish I had a pic. It's good to see that Tony Tag is 'out and about'! It appears the gold pinstripe tape has been removed?
Thanks. I have this model in 1/18 at home. One of the few non Ferraris I have on display. Big Warhol fan here. That white squiggly line on the front wing: That was Warhol's finger going through the fresh paint. How effen cool is that? What I meant was, I wish I had taken my own fotograph of the real car. The fact that I have no pics of the BMW art cars can mean only one thing: It was verboten to take pics at the museum in Munich. I found on ebay a beautiful art book, which has fotographs and history of all the BMW art cars (not just the M1). It is an awesome addition to any racing/art fan's library.
I seem to remember seeing a red M1 at a concours 3-5 years ago. It was at Katherine Legge Park in Hinsdale. What ever happend to that event?
Around 11am in Lake Forest on Ridge Rd,a Black SL65 Black Series, very sinister looking car I have to admit.
Yesterday afternoon: White Audi R8 outside of Elkhart Lake This afternoon: - Orange Diablo (?) with black rear wing in Glencoe - On Lincoln: Image Unavailable, Please Login
