I traded my 2003 gated spider on a 2014 gated Audi R8 Spider yesterday. The Ferrari had 46,000 miles, the Audi has 9,000 miles and extended bumper to bumper warranty until 2022. I got just under $70 k for the car, which had a recent major, new tires, brakes, alternator and battery.

I had very mixed feelings, definitely will miss the Ferrari, but I have to say the Audi has an amazingly similar feel to drive, all of the way to the gated shifter and overall performance.

My total cost of ownership, including depreciation and maintenance was about $22 k, and I put just over 9000 miles on the 360, so overall not too bad.

I have several 360 parts, including the leather tool kit, that I will put on this site and sell fairly to a brother.

I’m sure I haven’t owned my last Ferrari, just taking a break!

Congrats on the new car! Would be interested in seeing what other leftover parts you have, will take a look at your toolkit, my car came without one and have been keeping my eyes open for a good deal to make her more "complete".

Nice, if I were getting an R8 it would definitely be one of the original gated ones.

Any loss of responsiveness feel going from RWD to AWD?

I haven’t pushed the Audi much, it makes 430 hp, but heavier car, both about 4.3 to sixty, dimensionally the are so similar that the red satin OEM Ferrari cover fits the Audi like it was made for it. I am sure the Audi will be better in the rain, otherwise it is hard to believe that Ferrari was so far ahead of the competition with a car that is over ten years older.

Matt, I will gather my pile of stuff and take some pics and post this week, but main things I have include an OEM radio with code, the leather tool kit, car cover, used ferrari alternator in need of rebuild (I just bought a new one), wheelcaps, valve caps and some filters.

Very nice! How much did you have to add to the trade to get into the audi? (I'm casually looking at the Audi and always helpful to learn a real price. Thanks)

About $30 k all in, includes taxes and warranty extension, the Audi was about $130 new, depreciated about $40 k in four years, but 2015 last year for gated manuals in R8, I think it won’t depreciate a lot more than it has already over next several years

Dumb question, is the R8 a v8 or v10? I cant remember when the v10 became available.

I believe in the first gen R8, all the Spyders were V10s.

Edit: oh no I guess that’s wrong. 430hp is the V8.

So why did you keep the toolbox and cover and not pass it along to the next owner?

When we negotiated the trade they put no value whatsoever on the toolset or cover, not even a hundred bucks. I figured worst case I would have the cover for the R8, and toolkit as something to remind me of the 360, I would like to find a gated 430 Spider one day....

That's because you traded it into an Audi dealer who has no clue about Ferraris. They will loose money on your trade.

You made out like a bandit.

You are right, the car is now listed at $69,999.....I would never have sold the car for that price, I had over $90 k in it
