Hi, Snipped from The Times online (link below): "There is a certain irony in the story of the Shadow F1 team. It was established by Don Nichols, an American who ostensibly worked in racing in Japan in the late 1960s, but in fact that was a cover for his work in covert operations for the CIA connected with the Vietnam war." [Gotta love that one! - The CIA funding racing teams - "Your tax dollars at work!"] and: "Williams was a popular target in those days. Before his death in 1999, Dr Harvey Postlethwaite, Ferrari’s technical director, confessed to friends that he had led a break-in at the Williams team garage at Hockenheim in the summer of 1980. At the time, Ferrari were running the uncompetitive 312-T5 and Postlethwaite wanted to know more about the hugely successful FW07, so his engineers spent the whole night in the Williams garage." The moral of the story? - Don't get caught Cheers, Ian The link: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article2042025.ece
Fascinating article. Guess we should be glad that Aston-Martin doesn't have a team in F1 as James Bond would probably be working for them. Perhaps this spying stuff is one of the things that makes F1 so alluring. It still can't be openly tolerated by the sport. Taking Pictures in public places are one thing, stealing documents from your employer and selling them to a competitior is quite another. F1 has got to take action on this one.
Except James had a brief flirtation with BMW a while back - Maybe that's why they're going so quick nowadays.....
That was Pierce B, not Sean Connery aka the real James Bond. Goldeneye. Just saw it. Great scenes with F355 GTS in the beginning of the movie.
True, but Pierce wasn't too bad. Tomorrow Never Dies is one of my favorites. Gotta love the remote control 750iL with rockets in the sunroof.
Like the article is basically saying, this sort of thing happens all the time. I doubt the FIA is going to do anything regardless of the outcome. The driver's points aren't going to be affected, if anything it would be the constuctors points. Kimi will just have to go on winning races if Ferrari is going to be champ this year......
