    The prior owner put urethane bushings in the 328, and now they're squeaking something horrible. Other than spraying them down with silicone spray and hoping for the best, is there a better way to lube them -- or can it even be done?

    When I put Urethane bushings in another car the instructions said to lube liberally with the supplied (silicone) grease. This was painstakenly done on my car and they never squeeked; but have heard that if they are not lubed well that they will eventially squeek. It is also my understanding that they make a newer design bushing with graphite in the Urethane and that these bushings tend to squeek less. Lubing all those bushings, etc up prior to Assy was a PIA and could see why many people (especially at a shop) skip that step.

    IMO don't think you could have more than a brief success with spray silicone; the supplied silicone grease is very thick and sticky and it should be deep inside the bushing. I don't think the spray would effectively penetrate or last.

    Silicone spray will work, but you'll need to do it a couple times per year....and if you drive in the rain a lot, more often.

    Mine seems to only sound bad if it's really cold outside.
