I recently took my 2017 488 Spider to my first track day and ran it hard around the track for a couple hours. It handled amazing and everything went well. However, since that day my brakes have been squeaky - mostly when I'm slow braking into a stop. Could it be the brake pads are worn out? It was just serviced and certified in Dec when I purchased it. I wasn't planning to do the annual service until Nov / Dec. Thoughts?

if you hose down the rotors and calipers the squeak might stop, it worked for me.

probably dust or rocks in calipers. hose down and drive. it'll go away.

Tracking for a couple of hours is quite a bit.
Did you change the brake fluid before doing that or run it on the standard fluid? At Laguna Seca we are required to change out the brake fluid before tracking the car. My thought is to change out the brake fluid now and see if that helps.

it's pad build up on the rotors causing the pads to vibrate thus squeal/squeak. Stock pads can't handle the heat of track driving. Those pads are made for cold brakes on the street.

Street driving will rub off build up over the next 500 miles. You should re-bed in the pads to the rotors. You probably did not do that before track driving and the pads transferred material to the rotor unevenly.

But if you wash off rotors with soap and water and wipe with rubbing alcohol will help also remove pads and clean them up with sand paper on a flat surface helps.

Next time use pagid rsc1 pads and properly bed them in. Track pads can with stand the heat of track driving and hold up better.

I did all above on my 488 after a light 2 sessions of track driving on stock pads and it all helped, no guarantee but it helps . However after a while my 488 would start to squeak again a little . Interesting my F8 brakes are quiet and car hasn't tracked.

Thanks for all the replies. I tried using a pressure washer to wash the brakes and calipers but they still squeak.

I didn't change any brake fluid. It was a solid hour on the track driving really hard. I'm not about to do any maintenance work myself on a $250K ferrari :)

Drive up to about 110mph then brake to about 30mph. The idea is to get some head into the pads so the uneveness will wear away. Also, after doing this 5-6x straight drive for a while to cool the brakes down. It should get better.

I tried all of these suggestions (power washing brakes, rebedding pads, brake cleaner, etc) and nothing is fixing the squeaking issues. Mostly squeaking at low speeds. Brake pads look ok. Help!!

I assume that these brakes have anti squeal shims similar to steel brakes, if so, then a smear of Mintex Cera Tec between the back of the pads and the shim could work.

I would suggest going to the shop of your choice, share with them what is going on, and let them take a look.
They have the ability to remove the pads from the calipers, clean / remove build up in and around the pad / caliper / rotor area
Then use acetone to clean up the rotors, apply brake paste to the pads
reassembly and re-bed your brakes for you. If done correctly should take less than 5 hours for all 4
Not guaranteed to last forever, but should help out till your next track day!
( I would be very surprised if you used up the brakes, you would have had to be trying really hard, and over driving the you know what out of them, which is always possible )

    Steve,

I notice most 458/488/F8 brakes have no pad shims installed. When I bought new Brembo pads, they came with new shims and I used them. Is there a preference with or without?
