I have a 5005 575M F1 treated the backs of the original brake pads with the cure all and they sqealed the next day. Just installed Hawk pads today, Broke them in and drove about 10 miles and they started sqealing. I also have a 550 and it has never squealed.
I umderstand this is a comon complaint. anyone have a fix or know of a brake
pad that will not do this?

Squeeky brakes used to be my only complaint about the 550....embarrassing as hell!

The cure for me, and as suggested by others in various threads on this subject in the past, were Porterfield brake pads....no more squeeky brakes and pretty much identical, if not superior, stopping power. Not to mention, less dusting then stock pads too!

It's a no brainer for any Maranello owner, IMHO......

    Here's a tip...

Ferodo Nissan 350Z (track upgrade) pads fit and they are 80% less than Brembos.

I dont mean to sound obvious, but on the 550/575 the most common thing I have seen is the brake pads installed upside down !!. (arrow should go in direction of rotation)
I also install the portafields, as sugested, but break in carefully to avoid glazing of the pad and disc. It the disc looks glazed, scuff it up with sand paper, do the same to the pads, apply anti-sqeal paste and try breaking in again.

Here I posted this in your Tech Q&A Thread, might as well post it here too :)

When ever I change a set of brake pads I accelerate up to about 100 km/h and then brake hard, again up to about 80 km/h and brake hard ect...., I keep doing that quite a few times to bed the pads to the rotor. I would take it back to the workshop and then hose down the brakes to remove the brake dust residue, that's 97% of the time why your brakes would be squealing.

The other 1% and I am thinking you are in this boat is that your brake rotors are glazed due to heavy braking previously and now not allowing the pads to bed into your rotors, this requires machining work to remove the glaze.

The other 1% is the rotors and worn and have a lip cut into them from years of use causing the pad to not apply correctly and also needs machining work.

The other 1% is incorrect assembly.

Installed Porterfield today (Front only) with the silencer pad on the back, also coated the backs with Napa Anti Squeal. Porterfield told me to just drive the car in a normal fashion and not use any drastic break in. Went about 10 miles in the city today, lot of stops all quiet. Thanks for the Porterfield suggestion.
