Squideria Calamari and Johan Schwartz's Endurance Karting are pleased to announce that we have secured December 3-4 to host the Squideria Calamari 6-Hour on the outstanding new Go Karting facility at Moroso Motorsports Park. Endurance Karting is the "Arrive & Drive" karting experience featuring equally prepared karts racing in long distance events of four, six, and up to 24-Hours on circuits around the country. Johan Schwartz's expert staff takes care of all the details, handling everything from kart preparation to course marshalling. Endurance Karting has everything from driving suits to helmets and gloves available, no detail is left unchecked. Squideria Calamari are very excited to host what will be a truely unique event, the first of it's kind at the brand new Moroso facility. On Friday December 3, Endurance Karting will host a driving school so those not quite up to speed may get some experience in the karts. We then plan to have underprivilaged children from the area come out to take a few laps in the karts. The Moroso Karting course will be lit up at night so we may use Friday evening for an informal practice session. On Saturday December 4, we get down to business with an early morning warm up and qualifying session. We will break for lunch and begin the race at 1:00PM concluding the event under the lights at 7:00PM. Post race celebrations will be at Rachel's in Palm Beach. Complete details and registration information will be available shortly but you may visit Endurance Karting's website to find out what to expect when the Squids invade Moroso in December so start assembling your teams now! http://www.EnduranceKarting.com Squideristi BHW
This sounds like fun!! I'm definetly bringing a team out for this! Any idea what the prizes are going to be? Registration fee?
Endurance Karting gives trophies for overall and class finishes. So, if you break into the top three in either, you go home with some hardware. Think in this case, the real prizes will be at Rachel's after the event. Fees are based on how many team mates there are per kart. You may have as many people as you like on your team, realistically this usually works out anywhere from three to five drivers. We are working out some details with regard to sponsorship, etc. but you may find information about Endurance Karting on their website... http://www.EnduranceKarting.com BHW
If you really want to get excited about this event, go out to Moroso and check out the Karting track. It is excellent! BHW
Only if you think smooth 30' wide asphalt with tons of runoff is better than Speed Indoor Karting. Moroso has done all their sums here. By the end of August, the place will be lit up and it is to FIA standard. BHW
Are you guys going thursday night?Let me know, if I don't have alot of work I'll go straight there since I work in weston.
Sindo: If you want to do an "off week" event, this Thursday, I'll go. Ask anyone who has seen me work that hairpin - I NEED THE PRACTICE. Scottie
I'll be at Indoor Speed this Thursday...taking my dad since fathers day is coming up. If you go, Email me at let me know and I'll race with ya'll.
Sindo and NSX - I'll go this thursday. I have a corner to work out and almost 2 seconds to find. Scottie
What are you running? I usually run high 19s but last time I got a slow kart and could only muster a 20.6 best (slow traffic too), but my buddy that works there gave me a great tip and I got it down to a 20.1 just on that tip alone, so with a good kart, i'm hoping to high 19.6's
I've managed a few laps under 21.0 but just a few. That represented a 1 sec. improvement over the last time (my first). My big problem is that I have this "special" relationship with the hairpin. About every fifth lap I apparently have a compulsion that forces me to stop and say hello. It really kills my average lap time - and pisses off Martin and Barton (who are desperatly trying to pass me - ALL THE TIME). I will head over tonight - could use the practice. I figure that I'll start sneaking over a couple times a week until I get REALLY good, then I can start offering to race Martin for money! Scottie
I'll be there around 7:30-8:00. Unfortunately (or fortunately??) my NSX is still in the shop getting a make over so I'll be forced to drive my Xtreme tonight (blah) or I might cruise over with my dad in his truck. Maybe if we can get enough people together, we can do like a 40 or 50 lap race! I think we need 10 for that though. I'll be two...
I should also mention, the secret to hair pin is to go into it with as much speed as possible, stay as wide as you can and whip it around so the tires hop...stay at full throttle in this hairpin and brake at hte same time to keep the RPMs up. This should prevent you from bogging down as much as they usually do.
