    No kidding!

I have a practically new 05 Acura TL and I noticed something was wrong the other day when I got a check engine light. I'm thinking, "hmmm...that's weird, the car's only a few months old." Drove fine, though.

So I eventually get around to taking this thing to Acura and, wouldn't you know it, there's a nest in my engine. Whatever it was ate some wiring that ran to the knock sensor. Looks like around $600 to fix but they're doing it gratis.

I'd heard of these kinds of things in aviation where a bird would build a nest inside an airplane cowl, but never in a car like that. What's more is I usually park in my garage but the purchase of a new washer and dryer had the old ones in my spot so I parked outside for a few nights.

Just rats that live in trees & everything else. Whenever I'm out for a drive & I see them run out in front of me, I don't stop. I take aim.

I've heard of spark plug wires being eaten numerous times, never the harness.

I had one chew through the heater hose in my 328. I was headed to a car show, pulled out of the garage and there was a puddle of coolant. Grumble.

My neighbor had rats chew holes in the radiator hoses of both cars inside his garage. They also at the hoses to his washing machine.

    Nasty buggers.

I spent about a week last spring trying to figure out why the alarm on my Elise was going off randomly, while parked in the garage. One of the times it went off, I went outside and saw a mouse sitting right outside of the engine compartment. As soon as it saw me, it took off into the engine compartment.

I decided to take the car out for a drive to try to scare him (or shake him) out. I took it up to about 80-90 and stood on the brakes about 10 times in between various high-G cornering maneuvers in empty parking lots and on empty backroads. After about a half hour of this, I figured he had to have been gone (or dead), so I brought the car back home and parked it back in the garage.

Sure enough, about an hour later I woke up to the alarm going off... again.

I tried the same thing a few more times over the next couple days... with the same results.

Eventually I set up a no-kill trap and caught him.

For a while my project 69 Mustang Mach1 was parked on the side of the house, underneath a car cover.
One day I wanted to show the engine compartment to a friend.

As I raised the hood I was confronted by an angry mama possum baring its' teeth at me from space between the air cleaner and the inner fender.
There was a nice nest filled with 4 baby possums and mama too!!!

I just lowered the hood and went away. A couple of weeks later the nest was empty, so I tore it out. They never came back.

Buy a nice BB gun from wallmart, stake them out, and blast away. I killed 30 squirrels(one for every day) in one month. And they kept coming back, didnt know that many (+the others I've killed) existed in a five-mile radius.
