It's too bad I have to wait a few years to install this kit. I am shipping my 355 to Dave Helms for her next service. It's like 600 miles from my new home but he seems to be the best close option (vs. Chicago or Minneapolis).
I just ordered the entire connection kit sans one connector (on Dave's recommendation). My car is going in to Competizione sometime this spring for it's major (first since I have owned the car, 5 years since last) and I will be installing the kit prior to the major. Logic dictates that the kit should be installed first that way there is a soilid foundation in the engine management system for Richard and Fernando to do all the necessary fine tuning without having to work around and compensate for an inherent deficiency. I know there have been other threads posted showing the install, but I have not seen any that include the ECU connection so I will be posting my complete installation in an attempt to comprehensively document it. Over time, expect to see pre-installation commentary on overall vehicle performance, detailed installation photos, post installation vehicle performance commentary and post-major vehicle performance commentary. Regardless of wether the major was due or not, this project was on the must do list for this spring. Toward the end of last years driving season I was having nothing but issues with CEL's, poor idle, stalling, 1-4 bank shutdown - you name it, I've been having it. As I said to Dave in my conversation with him Friday night, I can directly pinpoint the failures as they relate to going over rough road, rumble strips, low speed bumps or anything else that causes vibration or "shock" in the car. I have no doubt about this kit as the cure to my problems and am very excited to do the installation.
Blue and others Lets answer questions in the technical post link listed above. I think more people will benefit that way. Bumps = CEl's I think my last picture in the technical post link helps to explain your problem. Thanks!
You will not be disappointed. Dave has been maintaining my cars for years (even back at FOD). He and Niki do fantastic work.
Thanks for posting this FBB. As a proud distributor of the complete Scuderia line, I sometimes forget how "cool" these items are. We sell a pretty decent amount of the silicone cooling and fuel hoses already, and are simply waiting on Dave to take the "Beta" label off the Gold Connector kits, then we'll have those on our site too. (Until he considers them 100% commercially ready, we can't properly manage the distribution of them). Fuel and coolant hoses? Slam dunk. Gold Connectors (minus the beta tag), right around the corner. I don't want to be redundant so if the consensus is to post all things related to the kit in this thread then I'm on board with that. With respect to my specific installation, my thinking is that one thread, 348 specific installation, from beginning to end with photos would be good for anyone looking for the 348 specific application all in one place and easily searchable. Thoughts?
