I was so impressed with how this stuff worked on my 348, I hunted it down for fellow Fchatters! I'm pleased to annouce, the *real* Stabilant 22A is now available through Ricambi. I'm only going to offer the 15ml kit at this time.

Don't razz me about the price. It's not cheap, but it's good, good stuff!!

    Daniel,
That is an entirely reasonable price! I paid around $50 from the local VW dealer a couple years ago...and had to wait several days to get it.

Great price Daniel! Most places are selling it for literally double that (Stabilant22.com is at $99.50 for the 15ml).

See, here's why I'll ultimately fail in my Ricambi venture.... I price things according to how I'd like to buy them myself as a Ferrari addict, not according to the "middle-finger salute" that is so often found in niche markets.

As my friend eclipse185 says, "Sure you can sell things at a loss... just make it up in volume!" Funny guy, huh?

Anyway, it's on the shelf here at Ricambi. Just to prove it, here's a picture of my old Jack Russell with some of the bottles!

Great stuff. Just yesterday I was chatting with a 348 owner, and he said that this stuff is really the answer to the dreaded "check eng light." You see, the problem is not the O2 sensors. The problem is... (drum roll for those of us with experience working on british crap) the connectors. Slop this gook on every connector you can see and life will be good.

Pratt & Whitney requires the periodic use of Stabilant 22A on all connectors of some of their turbine engines.

That "Check Engine" light burns a little brighter at 45,000'

    Good stuff

I first learned of the stuff four years ago when several TR and 348 owners raved about it. They had started applying it either yearly or every other year to all the various connectors in the engine compartment, and this virtually eliminated all check engine lights and other gremlins.

I am still in a quandry as to the expense of the stuff. I can't believe that this chemical is so DIFFICULT and TIME CONSUMING and EXPENSIVE to make that 15 ml costs between 50.00 to 100.00 USD.

    I have a few theories as to the justification of such a price;

    A. It is a proprietary formula that nobody else has been able to duplicate virtually eliminating competitive pricing.

    B. It is made by a very old, nearly blind man in a non-descript hut on the outskirts of a tiny village in Scotland.

    C. In the true spirit of capitalism the Company's motto is, "It works so good we can charge anything we damn well want to charge."

    D. "It's MAGIC!"

    E. It is scraped off of the ass end of extremely rare Gnats that inhabit an area near the source of the Amazon River that only come out on moonless nights when when all of the planets in the Solar system are aligned and I'm getting"lucky".

    F. All of the above.

There are other products on the market that claim to be "as good" or better. But why mess with success....I just use the original stuff. The price is a bit offensive, but as long as it works, no complaints from me. It is patented too....

I too have heard positive comments on it's use.....and the subsequent vanishing of many electrical gremlins as Dave Handa says. I have looked around and asked many questions about it's availability, but get the usual blank stare from the guy behind the counter. I believe Napa does carry this substance too....but out local Napa store couldn't seem to verify this!?!? Since my old......rode hard the put away wet TR has gremlins I'm ordering this stuff immediately. The price is nothing if it solves even one intermittent problem.....how much more gray hair....or how much of the little hair I have left will I yank out of my head....chasing down something that this may irradicate? I'm on the Stabilant 22A bandwagon !!!

    Good Grief, Daniel!

I ordered some Stabilant 22A from you at the weekend, got a message on Sunday that it had been despatched. Today in France it was in my mailbox!!!

The only improvement you could make on this service is to send things before I order them, or before I've even thought of ordering them! LOL :D

Mucho Thanks! Now I just can't wait to try it out on my F174 (=F348 with bad connector on a CAT ECU).

It's not just for my 348 Spider (though it's on every electrical connection on that car that I've been able to reach).

It's also on my digital cable modem connections and on my cell phone antennae (boosts signal reception by 1 bar).

It seriously improves data flow across electrical connections.

I've also used the $9 blue/green spray can of "Corrosion Block" from Lear Chemical (http://www.learchem.com/C.B.Page.htm)...it seems to work almost as well as Stabliant 22a.

I recommend both products...Stabilant 22a is **well** worth the price paid.

Yup... I'm sure there are cheaper places on the Internet where you could find just about anything. For me, the idea of mixing the stuff is downright unappealing. What is the right concentration? How long does it last? What are the side affects of a bad mix? etc. etc.

On top of that, a 15ml vial (the stuff I sell) will do more than an entire car. The idea of having 50ml of Stabilant doesn't mean a whole lot to me. It's like going to Sam's or Costco and buying a 5-gallon drum of peanut butter. Sure, it's tasty and goes a long way -- but most folks just don't want that much.

Finally, my business is not about low prices or "Wal Mart" approaches to Ferrari items. I pride myself on customer service, relationships, and quick turnaround. Those things mean that I have a lower total volume. The only way I can offset that lower volume is slightly higher prices. When the market begins to say "we don't care about customer service -- we just want low prices", I'll happily oblige! I'll turn off my 24/7 cell phone, stop answering email at 3:00am, stop shipping orders throughout the weekend, stop including free workshop manuals, etc. etc.

    Nonetheless, good find!

    Best Regards,
    Daniel

If you think you need it , that means you do not drive your Ferrari enough! If you will just drive your car every few weeks and you won't need that or a battery tender!

I would say that is old school and will have no affect on the problems addressed by Stabilant.

On top of that lith grease does nothing that many 20th never mind 21st century lubes do much better. You can blame slow window motors on white lith.
