I never seen a hz number for the 348. I looked and called a few folks over the years but nothing. It can be calculated with cog width, weight and a few other factors but try a few different ways of adjusting it and jot down the numbers
A few months back I measured my new belt with Staeger and then with frequency. The tension was given default by the tensioner. It corresponded well with Staeger and given value from service manual. The spring in tensioner was not replaced with a new one. I’m frequency I got ~145Hz on each side. +/- 3Hz.

Excellent my man! Both Staeger and frequency. I heard 142hz so that was correct information. It was right, I set mine to 144. I used a new spring as well. Very very very useful post that has been asked for years, your the first to post both freq and Staeger after Staeger is set. Empirical evidence in other words. Much obliged! Nismodrifter said it was 142hz in my repair thread although he did not mentioned how he got that. I assume checking existing belt. Wanted to see if anyone did Staeger and then the frequency. I bumped the thread to confirm what he has said, sort of double entry book keeping. And looky here. Thanks Nismodrifter and uber2. I tried to find a non Porsche Staeger tool (apparently some difference in measurement there was a whole thread on it a while back) to do it myself but man, those are as rare.
Hello Thanks very good information! I dit set mine around 140Hz also but to do so I had to remove some tension from the rest position of the tensioner since the spring (tried both new and used) was setting it around 150/160Hz IIRC if locked at the TDC After 2 turns. However the recommanded procedure (locking the tensioner at its highest position) was setting crazy tension (around 190Hz) and I thought it was a crazy tension. I am the only one to have to remove tension to get thèse 140Hz?

I got 150 ish hz on bank 1-4 and like 170 ish on 5-8 with #1 at tdc … manual says 140-160 on staeger (I thought those measured hz but that was internet info), and iit also has some poor English referring to measuring two points on the staeger. Anyway I might back it off a bit..?
staeger units are not hz they are it's own measure, but it does equate to hz which is 142 if I recall. The drive side is always tighter because it's the side that pulls the pulley the far side is trailing. I am not sure how you get the same measure on both sides with out backing off a few degrees when assembling. As far as tensioner follow the manual which sets the tensioner while turning engine over to it's maximum height, then re-check cams and repin if needed. The manual says 140-160 staeger.. so is 142 hz for the lower or higher value? The valve springs on the second bank give the higher value.. I can hear it’s higher.. sorry I read up above it’s for the lower value but since it’s not hz (even though only off by 2) I’m just curious what the high side is.. and maybe I’m not even supposed to worry about what the second bank is doing… there was some poor translation in there and I thought I’d read at one time to read both banks.
It's odd since the manual has procedure for belt install and setting that does not include stager. A separate section talks about the stager. Right and they mention not being over 110%… like the belt gets tighter… or is it staeger values get higher as belt tensioner gets lower
