    I see that David Coulthard has a special "Stars Wars" livery this weekend. When did F-1 become "NASCARified"? And Star Wars, in the glitz and glamour of Monaco and the most "romantic" sport in F-1? Seems odd.

    Has nothing to do with becoming NASCARfied. F1 often has special themes on drivers helmets or cars. Remember the diamonds on last year's Jags at Monaco (and one that then promptly allegedly disappeared)? Berger, Schumacher and Alesi had individual helmets for certain occasions. Jordan and Arrows had some one off sponsors on occasions.

    Star Wars is huge in Europe too.

    Here's the reason for the Star War's theme:

    Revenge of the Sith, the sixth and final film in the Star Wars series, has just had its international premier at the famous Cannes Film Festival, which is taking place just a few kilometres down the coast from Monte Carlo.

    To celebrate the release of the epic movie, Red Bull and the Star Wars creators will be staging a promotional partnership over the course of the Monaco race weekend, which will see the film’s director, George Lucas, as well as some of its stars, appearing as guests of the Austrian-owned team.

    I know. Was being sacristic. Just find a Stars Wars-F1-Monaco combo weird. Stars Wars doesn't need the marketing, but I can see the way to celebrate it.

    Remember Jaguar did the same thing for Terminator 3 at the Silverstone Grand Prix in 2003 to promote the movie. Arnold attended the race.

    Yes, Red Bull is just picking up where Jaguar left off with last year's silly Ocean's Twelve promotion. I'm not a Star Wars fan, but I must admit that the Red Bull hospitality shack with the Star Wars theme looked pretty wild- I shot some pictures of it but haven't had them developed yet (just got back to the States last night).
