Got everything tightened down and cranked car with new exhaust. Smoke and rough idle. Does the ECU need to adjust to the test pipes and Tubi exhaust? If so, does it require car to reach normal temp to self adjust? This is a '96 Spider. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Any more information? Did you refit all the O2 sensors correctly and install minicats on the rear O2 sensors? Check Engine light on? Any codes?

You have to expect noxious fumes coming out your exhaust pipe (with test pipes and no cats), but does it smell rich? Any leaks around the secondary air pipes?

All sensors are correct. No CEL, installed extensions with steel wool inside on rear O2 sensors to prevent CEL, no codes. It does smell a little rich. I saw where someone posted that cutting battery off to car will reset parameters. Could this correct rough idle? Did not notice any leaks. Your thoughts? Thanks

Disconnect battery then go through ECU parameter reset. Read manual. It's very clear on how to reset engine parameters. Good luck

I see no issue for resets of anything..

the car does not know you changed exhaust parts.. and you put 02 extenders with wool.. ( which ive done in the past and worked fine) now running mini cat spacers
the car should idle as it was previously..

I suspect there is something else happening etc..

FWIW , not knowing exactly how rough the idle is now, makes it difficult for an opinion. ( Slight miss that is now more noticeable with less restrictive exhaust or a flat out miss in 2 cyl , for example )

As for the smoke , if it is a brand new exhaust, some smoke and odor would be expected ( burn off ) both of which should go away after a heat cycle.

I hope it sounds the way you wanted though, hard to dislike Tubi!

Its idling around 600-700 rpms. Not good. I will send a video.

Check for a vacuum leak around any of the intake tubes. Wonder if something did not go back together just right.

Shouldn't be a change other than sound.
Something is unplugged, like maf, O2, maybe a spark plug etc

You did something wrong when you installed the new exhaust. There are quite a few connections that can accidentally be wrong when you are messing with the exhaust mufflers and bypass pipes like that. Off the top of my head...

    1. O2 sensors mixed up
    2. bypass valve vacuum hose
    3. TCU connections mixed up
    4. thermal couple sensors connections
    5. air injection hoses
    6. spark plug wires and coil connections

Just go back and check them methodically, one at a time.

and if all else fails, go back to basid... fuel, air, spark

There is no parameter reset for an OBD II car. He said it's a 96, so OBD II.

Found the front left 02 sensor wasn’t tight. That should have thrown a cel though, right? I let carnrun for about 15 min before I discovered the loose sensor. Any thoughts?

if I recall correctly.. the 02 sensors only start to read AFR at a certain heat level..
meaning they are non functional until car is at full temp.. so that could be reason for no codes..

however the fact that it was not on properly still could have triggered the bad idle..

The O2 connector is loose, or the sensor is not screwed in tight?

    that won't cause any codes.

Could it have caused a rough idle?

Would the Capristo exhaust valve cause a rough idle? Hookup is pretty cut and dry. Unless they changed the design of the solenoid it doesnt look like the one in the instructions on their website. Also tightened up test pipe clamps, you could see fresh black leaks.

If I remember correctly, the capristo bypass valve is reverse logic from the Ferrari valve and requires different vacuum plumbing. Did you do that?

I went by the instructions on the Capristo website, pretty cut and dry. I did notice that the solenoid I received looks different than the one on their website. I think the problem lies somewhere in their. Car ran great until this install.

How would the exhaust valve effect the idling ? Just wondering

One fitting is unused according to Capristo. Note the one with the cut off rubber hose

I think you may have something. Free flow exhaust may have exposed a hidden problem but car seemed to drive well before this install. If I sent you an email with a video could you tell anything ?
