When the car is cold, it starts up with no problem. however once in a while when it is warm (this is when I notice it) the starter makes a clunk after turning over a few times. I usually stop and start over, this may happen a few times before it catches and actually starts the car....experiences

Do the hotstart test first. Start up your car when the motor is cold, such as first thing when you wake up. Now drive your 348 until she's warmed up (e.g. cooling fans kick on).

    Pull over.

    Turn the ignition OFF.

Now *immediately* after the engine has stopped, try to start her back up again.

If she starts in this manner when the engine is warm/hot, then you've identified one or both fuel pressure regulators as having failed. These are easy and cheap to change out, by the way. Two wrenches, a nice rum and coke, and an hour later a complete novice will have them changed (see the the348.com's tech section for a detailed step-by-step pictorial).

Now, if your 348 is still hard to start (i.e. takes more than one attempt) when you attempt to restart it hot, then it may be a flywheel grease issue or bad cable to the start issue (or failing starter motor, etc.).

Anyway, you won't even get your hands dirty doing the restart test. It's cheap, too!

And you get to drive your 348!

(oh, another way to test your fuel pressure regulators is to pull of the tiny black vaccuum hose that goes to each one - if there is gasoline inside, then the FPR is bad).
