So I just purchased 2014 FF and i am loving every minute of it! however, When i start the car and put the key in the proper setting and hit the start button the car does not turn on - nothing. All the sounds and lights noise radio everything is on and there are no check on lights on , so all good. Take the key out and try again nothing, after the 3rd time it usually starts? The battery 'seems' to be fine. The car just past CPO inspections etc and the battery was fine, i even have a separate document just for the battery inspection. I have driven the car ever day for 4 days , 3 times for apporx 30 miles each trip.Am I not stepping on the brake pedal hard enough? Am I doing something wrong? Or is this just the ugly battery debacle on these cars starting already?! I would think if it was the battery I would have some Warning light or it would should low battery or all the bells and whistles would not be turning on once key is in the ignition?
    Otherwise AMAZING CAR!

Are you holding down the starter button or just prodding it? Mine needs to be held down until the engine fires to guarantee the start. Sometimes a prod of the button will do but it doesn’t always guarantee that the engine will catch. At which point I get a Christmas tree light display of error messages.

Might be mistaken but aren't you "supposed" to put the key in the ignition/start position, then wait 5+ seconds to let systems communicate and wake up before actually hitting the start button on the steering wheel starting the car?

On my 488 I have keyless but I still do this based on what some 458 owners had said. Just an idea

Yes I guess I should hold it down a little longer correct sometimes with just a touch it goes sometimes I have to hold it down. that makes sense I should just wait five seconds until the systems run their updates. just got in the car and hour ago and it was fine. I’m pretty certain the batteries fine I suppose I just want to get in the car fired it up and RUN!! I I’ll try to be more patient :)

Hmm? That's weird. If the pedal not pressed hard enough, it will actually tells you to press harder. Is it your start button acting up?

This is a well known issue for the 360/430, but I've yet to see it being the case for the later generation of cars. I think it's quite specific to the 360/430 and does not really apply here.

I don't have to wait as well. I do hold the start button until the amazing v12 engine roar is heard by the grandma next house, that usually is about 1-2 seconds only.

Had this same issue with my 2012 FF. Came home after a long trip (car was on battery conditioner the whole time). Failed to start and the solution was to press the brake pedal much harder. i didnt get that suggestion from the car. I was just so pissed that the car wasnt starting that I ended up hammering the brake pedal in frustration while the button was pressed. The sound of the v12 quickly removed all my frustration!

Definitely need to wait for the key and car to communicate first before hitting the start button. I think the okay is given when the letter ?P (?parking) shows up on the dash; at least that's what I recall from the manual.

I've owned two FFs and three Californias since 2010 with probably a total of 140,000 miles between them all in daily driving. A modern Ferrari requires no delay between turning the key on and hitting the starter! I simply put my foot on the brake, if stiff then press hard, turn on the key and immediately press the start button If that doesn't work then something is wrong with the car. My 2019 GTC4Lusso has no old style key. In that car I press the brake and press & hold the start button with the keyless thing in my pocket. There is a 2 second pause between pressing and holding the button and engine start built in.

I know nothing about Ferraris before the California though, possibly they need waiting. About twice a year (of DAILY driving) there might be a communication issue that causes all kinds of warnings but a shut down - open and close door - and restart always fixes it. The delay or not delay has nothing to do with it.

For a cpo I’d be pissed and have them fix it.
