A few of you may remember me from last year, I was really clost to pulling the trigger on a beautiful 2001 360, however at the last minute I decided that I was not quite ready financially, and although I really wanted the car I wanted to be sure that I was completely comfortable with buying it.

I think that I am in a much better position this year (took most of my Ferrari money and bought someseriously discounted stocks last spring) and I hope to have my car early in the spring.

My question is should I go through a dealer or find the car from an independent seller? What do you guys have the best luck doing? Thanks in advance.

I vote dealer. They are more apt to get you service records from previous owners. Furthermore, should something minor go wrong in the early post-purchase period (like the CD player not working), they will likely take care of it at no cost. You have more rights as a consumer from a licensed dealer should something disastrous go wrong. Sometimes you can find better deals on a specific car if the dealer is motivated to move it. Wait to deal until week #3 of a given month. They are always trying to make their numbers for the month.
Good luck and happy searching. The chase is part of the fun!

I wouldn't rule out either. Look at it as a case by case deal. A dealer could just as easily buy an auction car or take a trade in that was a previous auction car and if the warranty has ended I wouldn't bet on the dealer not charging you for anything. You will know when you find the right car at the right price. Just make sure you get it checked out by a third party either way.
