Hi Can anybody help my with this problem? I am experiencing some trouble when starting up my 308GTBi from 1983. Not everytime, but maybe every 3-4 times when i try to start it. The engine does as follows: When the engine is cranked, its starts as normally and goes on up to app. 2000 RPM, and then it cuts of almost as if the ignition was taken away. It does this 3-4 times, and then its starts whitout any trouble. In addition to this the car runs absolutely fine, has all the power it used to and when running there is absolute nothing wrong with it... Has anybody experienced this before?? My best guess is to have a look at the electrics, and go through all conections especially arround the ignition coils as it seems to be the electrics on all cylinders that are cut off at once...
that's odd I can't wait to see how this plays out. It is nice to know what I may be experiencing in the future and how to fix it
It stands to reason that it gets too much air if it proceeds to idle at 2000rpm. I'd check the cold start installation. Block off the air and unplug the cold start injector, and see if that makes a difference. Just a wild stab at it.
To F308jack Thanks for your input... I will try to look at it. However it does not idle at 2000 rpm when it is running.. then the idle speed is normal. It is only in the 1-2 seconds where the engine "allmost" starts that it quickly moves up to 2000 rpm, and then its rapidly cut of...
