Last time I had this was 18 yrs ago on an 86 328 GTS with 6k miles, I think I could of had it for 65k.

Anyway, always have loved Italian cars. Currently have an Alfa 164S, Biturbo Spyder bought new and a Corvette Grand Sport. Now the Ferrari bug has bitten me big time once again within the past two weeks. Have bought a few books on the GT4, 308 & 328 series just to re-familiarize myself.

Realistically I'm probably in the 40-45k range tops.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this 328? She looks good, miles are good not great but looks like it's reflected in the price.

Also love this 85 308, asked the owner if interested in trade + cash for the GS but he's just looking to move her out.

I will initially put a caveat on my opinion here by stating that, as you will note from my profile, I am a rookie at this, I just got my first F-car 7 months ago. That said, the price on the 328 seems to me to be in the "pretty good" range, but with 45K miles, it may be due for a major service according to the factory maintenance schedule. I didn't see anything on the link which referenced what the service status is, so that would be the first question I'd ask. If its already had that work done, then to me and in the FWIW department, the asking price would jump into the "REAL good" range. There are others here with a lot more experience than me, though, ask around.

When talking about 308/328 Ferraris, don't worry about mileage. As the owner of an '84 308QV with 45k, I can say from experience that driving the car on a regular basis keeps things in order mechanically. If I were in the market, I would prefer a car with higher miles and a decent service record over a car with lower miles that hasn't been driven for long periods. I am assuming you are interested in driving the car (which it sounds like you are!) and not just adding a low-mileage garage queen to park next to the rest of your collection.

As you may know, some of the '80-82 308s experienced some engine issues, but many of them have been sorted out by now (be sure of this before you buy). Prices are going up quickly, so (once you've done your checking) don't hesitate to buy a car you feel comfortable with. Good luck, and feel free to PM with questions on any serious "contenders".

I too am getting the "itch". I've been a lifelong fan, but never jumped in. I currently own a '66 Jaguar E-type FHC and a '72 Datsun 240Z, as well as a classic motorcycle, but given the price jumps, I am getting itchier.

Preference is a 328 GTB, but given the desirability, it's looking like it may be a 308QV. I tend to agree that a higher mileage model with consistent service is the way to go.

Good luck - let everyone know how your search goes!

If you plan on driving the car, go for higher mileage. My 328 has 86,000 miles and has been extremely reliable. If you go above 50,000 miles, you can get 328s in the $35,000 range. Remember, just because someone is asking $50,000 doesn't mean that in this economy they won't take $37,500!

If I could land a well-maintained (documented of course) for $35K, I'd consider bailing on my E-Type :) (note, I said "consider"...)

    Excellent advice.

I don't know. I tend to like the lower mileage cars myself. Yes seals etc can go dry but just something about not having much were and tear on a car entices me. I usually only do maybe 2k miles per year if that as I have what would be considered three "summer" cars and my daily driver.

I really need to mobilize and sell my Vette, pricing has actually gone up some in the 4 yrs I own her. I've just been so damn busy. If I was liquid right now I would make a serious play for that blk/burgandy 85 308 GTS that's on ebay. Oh Well
