A brown wagon - what more could you want? In this case, it is a de-badged new Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG wagon, so not a diesel and no manual. It was at the Redmond Town Center event yesterday Photo on Flickr: https://flic.kr/p/Ugze75
wow. great pics! what event - looks like a C&C - and where? that red sport classic made me miss my paul smart!!
reluctantly just listed my wagon for sale. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/other-cars/551263-2011-mercedes-e63-amg-wagon.html
Thank you - it was a C&C at Redmond Town Center - hometown of Microsoft. Apparently, I missed an Alfa Romeo 8C2300, because it got there late and parked up on a roof lot. Here is another thread on it http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/northwest/550962-redmond-exotics-4-29-2017-a.html There was a huge Ducati showroom there too. I did everything I could not to go inside and drool on all the bikes.
BTW, I know this is old news, but I did confirm that the S option has nothing to do with AWD. It's a horsepower boost, basically. +27 bhp (to 577). +59lb-ft of torque. Seems speed limited removed (top speed up to 186mph). https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalAssets/AboutUs/PressRelease/PressRelease-2014-E63-AMG-4MATIC.pdf CW
Correct, but the S wasn't available until the w212 model (2014+). All 212s are AWD, so therefore all "S" are AWD.
You're just saying that because you can't get a non-S model, S means it's AWD. But, according to MB itself, S has nothing to do with AWD. It's not a big deal, though. You can, however, go spec your own Euro-delivery car with S but no AWD, from what my dealer told me. CW
Let me try again. 2014+ E63 wagons were only available with AWD. The S model wasn't available on wagons until 2014+. Therefore, any wagon you see with an S is a 2014+, and therefore must be AWD.
*** after the edit *** I don't think you can get a wagon anymore without AWD, but your dealer would likely know better than me.
4matic is not a part of the S option package. Whether the decision to bring only AWD wagons to the USA was made by MBUSA or GmbH, I don't know, and you may not even be able to spec a US-model wagon without S, but AWD is not described in the S option list on the window sticker, either. I believe you can spec a Euro-delivery vehicle without AWD, but with S, however, based on the dealer's statements to me. They may not know everything in the world, however. In fact, at one time, one of their sales people was surprised to hear (from me) that not all Black Series cars are black in color. So, they can be misinformed, too. So, it's not really that big a deal, but the one thing (only AWD wagons with S options are available in the US) doesn't mean the other (AWD is a part of the S option package). Call it an anomaly for the US-spec cars, but the two (AWD and S) are not connected in MB's RoW line-up from what I've been told. CW
Go and have a drive in yours. Maybe that'll make all things right, again. Still one of the most amazing all-rounders I've owned. I only wish they would have made the gas tank larger! CW
Was thinking of posting a similar thread and found this one in search. I love station wagons. Has anyone seen the new Jag? A lot of great wagons coming out of Europe - Mercedes E class, Volvo V90 cross country, and even the Panamera. Hands down if I were to buy a daily driver, I'd get a station wagon. They had a pair of those Jag wagons at Jaguar of Scottsdale and I fell in love. Waiting to see how depreciation fares as the list is quite heady on them, but absolutely love the lines and look of the car.
"Even the Panamera?" Even? Image Unavailable, Please Login Even? Come on........ Add some juice too......... Image Unavailable, Please Login I'm in! And all that Audi can offer us is a 2liter AllRoad? Weak......
Agree! SUVs are starting to get ugly and seem to be morphing into vans. A "Shooting Brake" has such a "cool" factor now. Reminds me of the old saying: "what goes around, comes around."
I wish Audi sold the RS Avants in the states. Only MB seems to have the guts to sell their high powered wagons in the US knowing they won't make much if any money.
how about this one? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login https://www.google.com/search?q=fisker+surf&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjG4ImLxoHaAhUNWK0KHQMuAFcQ_AUICygC&biw=1279&bih=658
Haha - I must admit that looks very good and probably drives great too. I just don’t want to risk the ire of Porsche die hards
Got a 2012 328iT last month as a DD. Sharp car that drives well, but may sell it after I replace the E38's timing chain guides. Image Unavailable, Please Login Brings back great memories of lapping the 'ring in a similar one in 2007 Image Unavailable, Please Login
