I've been trying to keep up with the status on this too. Unless I'm mistaken, this Q7 will be the only SUV since the Lambo LMs with a V12.

I think the unofficial word is that Audi will bring over the Q7 with a 3.0 V6 TDI but not the big V12. The 3.2 diesel in the MB GL320 is plenty of motorvation for that vehicle, so I'd think that the 3.0 should be sufficient for the Q7.

Im looking at a TDI for my next suv. I am either going with a GL550 or the Q7 I mean they can tow 7xxxlbs which is enough for me. If you need to tow more than that get a pickup lol

Yes, like mbe55amg said, if you want/need to tow 10k it'd probably be wise to go with a pickup truck. While people often enjoy making fun of pickup trucks in general, as well as leaf springs, live axles, and body-on-frame automobiles, there are some tasks for which those types of components are ideal... such as towing heavy loads. Right now is a GREAT time to buy a pickup truck if you think you'll need one in the future. Lots of competition, great improvements, and huge incentives with the high fuel prices dissuading wannabe urban cowboys from indulging.

The diesel Benz GL and Q7 should both be outstanding vehicles for lighter duty hauling up to 7000 lbs.

no arguments. you guys are def right about trucks. i was just infatuated with the V12 diesel idea!
I'm just an Audi fan i guess -- 750 ftlb of torque from the Q7 diesel, and 578 HP Bi-turbo V10 for the RS6 Avant.
I have to calm down a bit.
