I heard this Bad Bird might get grilled. Anybody know if the project is still alive ?
William, A very close friend is a flight engineer on the F22 project for Lockheed Martin in GA. Trust me the project is still up and running. He was up last month and showed me a new CD rom on it. Kinda cool, Discovery Channel "wings" did a show on the F22, and my buddy was on it. Most of the F22's are at Edwards AFB in CA, but there are several in Las Vegas. My buddy goes out there about every 6-8 weeks for something related to the program. Another friend is an avaition-whore and had me ask him Why is it taking so long to get from paper to production and the answer I got was. The F22 is SOOO advanced that they could not predict how long it was going to take to fine tune EVERY aspect of the Jet. He told me that they are already training the 1st full squad of pilots to fly it. One of the videos he showed me had the F22 being tailed by 2 F14?'s who were filming it in flight. Well the other 2 planes were at full throttle and the F22 hadn't even gotten to half throttle...never mind afer burners! There is another video he told me of but I could not see. During testing one of the F22's crashed in CA because of pilot error and he planted the plane on it's belly(just slid...not hurt at all) and the cursing the pilot did to himself (being recorded too) would make a truck driver blush!..lol If you have some specific questions on the F22. Theres a good chance the F22 could be the last manned fighter plane. Next gen will probably be ultra sophisticated UAV's pulling 30+ Gs Just like in Terminator
