Guys, this is just another Stebro horror story, but I wanted to keep the info current and if possible provide info to anyone still considering using them.

In August 2012 I attempted to purchase an exhaust for my 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB. At this time, I still do not have an exhaust on my car. The original sent to me does not fit and Stebro refuses to refund my purchase or resolve the problem. In addition to the poor service, the exhaust is of very poor quality in my opinion.

I am posting to offer anyone thinking about purchasing an exhaust from Stebro an honest and factual account of one persons experience. If you would like to see the exhaust, I have an ad on ebay, just search 'Stebro Exhaust' (I have to renew it every week).

    Thank you for your time.

Did you research FChat before sending them any money?

Sorry to hear about that, they do have a pretty bad reputation of late. My QV came with a Stebro, and I've been happy with it, but it looks to have been fitted a long time ago, probably before their quality control and customer service issues started. Hope you have luck finding a buyer, and for what it's worth, I enjoy mine and would recommend it if yours is like the one I have. Is there anything specific that leads you to believe it's of poor quality?

If we want to keep people current, check out the thread on the Canada regional site:

We keep that one alive as more and more funny stories come in about Dan and his business relations with the automotive community. Ferrari, BMW, Lambo, etc.... doesn't really matter as he is an equal opportunity abuser :)

In my case I was fully aware of Stebro's shaky rep over the last few years, but I had successfully purchased a system from them in the mid 90's for my Alfa, and the system was great, so I figured being a satisfied customer that I'd take a chance [insert dope slap sound track here] :)

While the resulting saga is painful, and ongoing [over 16 months now], it does provide quite a few people with ongoing amusement. Publicizing our Stebro woes on FChat will hopefully keep others from falling into one of Dan's tiger traps.

Should any FChat members be thinking about ordering a system from Dan et al. at Stebro please PM any of us who have been there and we'll let you know what you are in for.

    Ciao,
    Paul

I too had an OK experience with a full exhaust for my 400GT about 4 years back. Hence my taking a chance again.

I did actually do some research before ordering for the 308, but had heard some bad things about other companies as well.

While the lower price of the Stebro unit was attractive, the worst part is that money isn't really the issue. I can afford to keep and run three late 70's F cars and have fully rebuilt one 308 motor sparing no expense. For me the real issue is the continual out-and-out lying Dan is willing to do. He says he is shipping something "today" and I don't hear from him for a month. He even had the nerve to state to the Better Business Bureau that I don't know what model of car I own!

I don't know what has happened in Stebro land, but the workmanship and customer service is terrible now.

So, now I will be getting another brand of exhaust from another supplier and taking my chances there.

By the way, the Canadian thread is a fun read!

I'm embarrassed to say I got sucked in as well.

I thought I would be smart and have them ship the header FedEx COD. When it arrived I refused delivery and immediately sent it back. Not only was it for the wrong car, it was the worst quality header I've ever seen.

    BUT...

I was an idiot and had him ship it using my FedEx number. Sure enough, I get a high FedEx change a few weeks later where he's trying to get money. Needless to say, it's being disputed.

    Run! Run away!

I am not even sure how I ended up going with this guy but I saw some good things and bad things, Now I bought mine 4 years ago at what I assume is when things started to go down hill.

I bought mine for about 600 less than what he charges so I was happy with that, the shipping was no problem but when I went to install it the thing was crooked, But after some wiggling and loosening all the hardware I got it to sit straight.

Now I put a Euro exhaust on a state side F car so I dropped the diaper and the ugly ass Cat so to say the least I am happy with what I got.
