Has anyone else found that the steering arm hits the lower alternator when attempting to go to full right hand lock?

I was working on getting my steering wheel and full lock stop bolts centered when I realized it was not the steering gear preventing me getting to full right lock. The main steering arm was hitting the lower alternator. I had a new, correct belt on the alternator (Gates 7M650). The only way to correct this was to go to a shorter belt. I bought the next two sizes smaller. One size smaller 7M630 (20 mm shorter) was a tight fit but I got it on by "rolling" the belt on with a bump of the starter motor. (Watch your fingers!!) Once on, the fit was good and I just had to tighten the alternator bolts. Next time I am doing a complete belt change (just did on last fall), I will pull off the adjustment bracket and extend the slot slightly.

If you haven't looked I would check it out. You might not have full use of RH steering. Let me know if anyone finds same issue.

Boy, that's a new one on me Ken. I remember you posting about the difficulty of pulling the lower alt./grinding the bolt down to clear the steering arm. Will check when I get back down to FL at the end of the month.

Could your engine mounts be bad, allowing the engine to sit lower in the car?

That would make sense. Is there any way to measure the mounts or some reference point that the engine should XX mm above something? I do not detect any movement of motor or noises like the mounts are worn. How do you know?
