    Does anyone know where I may get some information on taking out a steering rack on my 1997 355 spider. I have found a reputable shop to do the rebuild but I'm having a hard time getting it out. Do the tie rods have to be taken off while its on the car? Please help...many thanks Pete

    I replaced the steering rack on my 550 and normally you just undo the tierods where the lock nut and screwthread are near each wheel. The threaded rod will rotate but cannot be pulled out. You cannot remove the threaded rod without special apparatus.
    The rest of the threaded rod stays in the steering rack and you send that with the rack to the rebuilder.

    On the 550 you need to drop down the sway bar to gain access. There are 2 center mounts you undo but leave the ends attached.

    how much was the rebuild job of the 355 steering rack?
