    Does anyone know how to replace the steering rack in a 98 355? any directions???...I cant find any info in the service manual....

    I didn't do it myself, but had to have mine replaced because of leaks. FOA did the work under a Powertrain Plus warranty from the Ferrari dealer I bought my 355 from.

    It's a bit involved as you have to remove and replace a/c lines to get at the rack. FOA said it was a good 10 hours of work (@100 per) and the rack was $2700. Misc parts, new a/c lin (one couldn't be removed without damaging it's fitting as it was frozen solid), seals and an a/c recharge, front end alignment.

    Total bill came to around $4200.

    the warranty only cost me $2000, so I was actually ahead of the game :)

    it should be similiar to the 360. I had one replaced in that for 1 shop days labor at 80 bucks an hour= 640 bucks and found a good used one for 1k total 1600. they diconected the rack under the steering wheel and got in as well from the front trunk. We have a good used 355 steering rack part number 157546 and can do it for about half. if interested. [email protected]
