Steering wheel control module malfunction?

Any FF owners have this issue where the the driver zones and lights on the wheel flicker on and off at vehicle start and the wheel buttons don't work for a few minutes?

My dealer tells me it's the steering control module and they're on the lookout for one but overtime it has gotten longer and longer (what once was a minute or so is now twenty minutes). So it's quite annoying to say the least! Curiously, once it's done it once from cold subsequent starts only take 30 seconds or so, heavily implying to me that it's an electrical thing.
