HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO GET THE NUT OFF THE STEERING COLUMN? I NEED TO REPAIR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH.

You are supposed to order a $100 socket and wait a week to get it. Do a search, there are some posts on this and other nuts, as well as how to fabricate a socket. I really hate those nuts and am getting closer by the day to replacing them with standard 6 point nuts. If your in a hurry, and careful, a $3 punch using a $4 hammer has removed both steering nuts as well as others from both my cars. It will tighten them too if your comfortable with that.

So this is not rocket science. You buy a 1 1/8" socket ( I used sears) and you grind it down so you have 4 prongs at 1/8" and there you have it. The whole deal takes about 15 minutes and the socket cost maybe $6-8.
