Okay, searched the archives, didn't find what I was looking for. Can anyone recommend a good vendor to recover the steering wheel for my 365 GT4 2+2? Just need it recovered (padding is fine).
from Forza: AGLA 7027 W. Broward Blvd #292 Plantation, Fla 33317 800-780-4500 fax 954-472-9836 [email protected] It isn't cheap. Good Luck!
I was going to reskin my '84 308 wheel but too expensive, starting at around $475.00. I ended up buying a new one from the US distributor of Momo for about $130.00, virtually identical, it's called the Monte Carlo. Check with them first, they may have one that's similar in look, just keep the original if your doing a concours event.
I used them to recover the steering wheel for the Porsche 944. Price was around $170.00. Quoted turn-around time was 10 days, which turned into several weeks. Furthermore, I was not pleased at all with the quality of workmanship -- stitching was terrible and some of the leather simply looked as if it was glued on. I ended up finding a mint-condition original steering wheel on eBay for $50.00, and I'm using the other one that was re-covered by AGLA as a paperweight When I initially called AGLA about the 944 wheel, I also inquired about having my 308 wheel re-done as well. They quoted me around $480.00. But, after seeing the results on the 944 wheel, I decided not to even consider having the 308 wheel done. Another fellow F-Chatter ( Dr. Tommy Cosgrove ) used them, IIRC, to recover his 308 steering wheel. Not sure how his turned out though, or if he was pleased or not with the results. If the leather is still in good condition, but the dye is wearing off, then you might want to consider a re-dye using Leatherique. Of course, the white stitching won't be white any more Another option is a leather cover like WheelSkins. You have to hand-stitch the cover onto the wheel (takes about an hour), and it looks great IMHO. Easy solution for $20.00, and protects the original leather -- plus it gives the wheel a "beefier" / thicker grip. I've done this on both the 308 and the TR. Hope this helps...
Erik That's what they quoted me as well. You may have good luck finding an excellent used or NOS. Not too hard for the Mondial, tougher for your Grand Lady. I saw a thread in the past where F-UK has NOS for both. You may come off with a NOS for similar money which is more 'correct' if you will. Paging Mr. Howe...time for another sale. Good luck! Russ
Mr. Howe has me on speed dial (I don't want the running total for 2004 Jeff!). Leather is ripped in two spots. I want original, not a cover and I like the thin feel to the original design. Willing to spend the money if it looks good.
I officially recommend no one. Very unhappy everywhere I go. I desperately need a professional that molds the hardened foam , and stitches accurately. I gave up, 10 wheels await recover Tom Shaughnessy San Clemente CA
Agree with Russ, I bought a new wheel from Ferrari UK for my 328...ran about $450. Came with a new hub and horn button. After I "ebayed" the hub, horn button and old wheel, that replacement cost me about $175.
