Almost ready to install my "new" 360 wheel. Leatherique steering wheel kit is awesome. Wish I took some before pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the 360 steering wheel is one of the best upgrades for the 355. Do you have the airbag module for it?
Please, if you can, post some pics of it in the car when it's installed and, if possible, let us know how much this set you back? Curious about the cost..
I'd really appreciate a description and / or pics of the process of removing the 355 wheel and replacing it with the 360 wheel and airbag. Is it easy enough for someone with not much idea (ie. me!) to do safely? Cheers
Will do. Just need to let the clear coat dry on the wheel and will do the install this week. My cost was well below average because I got the steering wheel on Ebay for $175.00. It had surface damage to the leather and looked like it might need to be recovered. I bought it as a core and planned on sending it out. When it arrived, I decided to spend $25 and try the leatherique dye kit. It is almost brand new looking. Certainly no reason at this point to spend the $$ to recover it. The current asking prices for used wheels on Ebay is $750 and a refurbished is asking over $1000. The air bag is in like new condition. Ebay purchased for $1650.
That will look great. I know everyone would rather have a 3 spoke wheel but I like the feel of the OEM wheel and would have a hard time messing with the original state of the car. The wheel conditioning you did looks great though.
When I was looking at buying a Ferrari, I almost passed on 355 because the original steering wheel looks like it should be in a Volvo. I am all for keeping things original. But this is the one change I have been looking forward to since day one.

Haven't had time to do the swap yet but I think the bolt pattern is the same from the 355/ 360 airbag wheels. If not, I have the Hub from the 360 that came with the wheel. Shouldn't require any machining. Will post picks when I do the swap.
Want to make some money? Seriously, I've been wanting to do this too since I bought my car 6 years ago. Unfortunately I don't have the time to hunt on Ebay, it's just me running my business. Sorry, it's a bit of a jerk move because I know it took you some time to find but I really, really want your wheel/airbag. PM me if you're interested in selling for a nice profit!
It's done!!! Took about 1/2 hour. Here's how. - TURN OFF BATTERY SWITCH - Remove original airbag (saftey torx T30 bit)- if/ when one of the screw heads strips, use craftsman stripped screw removal tool. -Disconnect wire from airbag and remove. Disconnect horn wires. -remove 4- 5mm. allen bolts. - Remove and replace wheel with 360 unit. - Replace allen bolts, hook up horn wires. - place airbag and tighten screws from behind wheel spokes. Cover with caps. - Turn on battery and honk the horn to test. Don't try to test the airbag.... I have a 360 wheel and airbag which I took to a Ferrari mechanic this week and asked them to fit to my 355. After umming and ahhhing for a couple of days they basically refused to do the job. Saying they were worried about liability issues re the operation of the airbag etc. Are we absolutely sure this is safe and the airbag would work as advertised in a crash? Is it totally compatible not just in the way it fits but in the way it works? I really want to fit the wheel and will probably just find someone who will do it but I'd like to be sure it is safe. Otherwise I may just put the 360 wheel and airbag up for sale and get myself one of those "thick" 355 wheels!
Interesting! I purchased a 360 Challenge Steering Wheel for my 355. Have not installed because of safety concerns regarding the loss of airbag. Good friend was in a severe accident recently. Airbag saved his life! Probably list on ebay and keep the stock wheel.
