How to replace the battery in your Lamborghini Gallardo.

    1. Remove center divider and tool kits from trunk compartment.

    2. Remove battery access panel. Use a flat head screw driver and turn the 2 plastic fasteners 180 deg. You may have to use a little pressure to pop the access panel off.

    3. Remove the 4 allen bolts with a 4mm allen wrench. There are 2 on each side of the trunk. See pictures.

    4. Remove weather stripping from the trunk.

    5. Remove the trunk compartment by lifting the trunk vertically. You will need to disconnect the trunk light once you have partially lifted the trunk from the car. See pictures.

    6. Remove the 2 allen bolts with a 6mm allen wrench and remove the plate that holds the battery in place. Pull the battery towards the front of the car. This will give you additional room to disconnect the battery. The ground (negative) terminal should be removed first.

    7. I replaced my battery with a Group 34 battery. Lamborghini Las Vegas service department told me they replace the Gallardo batteries with a Group 34 Interstate battery. I purchased a Sears Diehard Gold Group 34 for $95.

    8. Connect the new battery.

    9. You will need a vice and pliers to bend to aluminum plate that holds the battery in place. I bent the plate slightly to fit the indentation of the new battery. You will notice the stock battery has a lip at the bottom of it. The new battery has an indentation for the bracket. I don’t know if the Interstate battery has the same base as the stock battery. If it does, that would be a better battery to purchase.

    10. Insert the trunk and connect the trunk light. Fasten the 4 allen bolts.

    11. Re-installing the weather stripping can be difficult. Take your time, it will go back on!

    12. Synchronize the remote controls. See page 56 of your owners manual.

The battery installation only took me an hour. It was very easy and I would not consider myself a mechanic in any way.

I included the time of going to pick up the battery. Some people may spend an hour just installing the weather stripping!
