Amazing playoffs for nba this year. Okc v spurs then v gsw then clev v gsw. Almost 2 months of viewing pleasure. Never in million years did I think clev would pull this out but they did it. Huge congrats to them. Curry is a great player for regular season when game is not as physical but this year ad last year, his performance went down the deeper he got in playoffs. As of now he didnt have greatest season ever because he wasnt even best pg in finals. Irving was, who bby the way is most underrated star in nba. What a talent! And i do hope this series will end all the lebron bashing. He is at the all time top right after mj. Finally, as a knicks fan, I can only hope lebron will use his powers to bring his friend melo over to cavs. Lol
Greatest season of all time for Curry...definitely not. The splash brothers fell flat in game 7 , but Draymond Green's heroic effort almost put them over the top. Curry and Klay stated before the game that if they did not win the game and hence the title, this season would be a failure... It is rather disappointing to meet the end of a special season for the Warriors. Make no mistake, this game and series was won in the final minute, as Kyrie hit a shot for the ages. They were as close as anyone ever have been to winning the title this year. Both teams could not score for 4 possessions until Kyrie "took the win". Lebron has cemented his legacy as a greater player, about Kobe level, but not MJ level. It was so devastating leaving the stadium today, as the 73 win season no mater means as much...they are not greater than the 96 Bulls as they did not win the title. I will always remember this season, but it will go down as a disappointment that ended abruptly with a minute left in regulation. This team will be back for the next few years, so this story is not over... We can let Harrison Barnes go and openly welcome Kevin Durant and we will see you next year Ckeveland...
This is true, as this season's playoff basketball is definitely not called the same as regular season basketball, as these NBA refs sure do allow Curry's defenders to hold him without any penalty. This is a primary reason their was no major "Splash" in the finals this year. No excuse...Curry must adjust as the NBA officiating surely does not have his back.
I disagree. The game was decided by two things late in the 4th quarter. 1) The monster block by Lebron on that 2 on 1 layup attempt by GS 2) GS's decision to keep bombing 3's (and missing all of them) instead of attempting higher percentage shots. You only need to beat the other team by 1 point, not 3. At that time, the game was 89-89 forever (as neither team scored in the last few minutes until that dagger 3 by Cleveland). Why GS kept throwing up prayer 3's is beyond me. It wasn't working, try something different.
Must have been completely devastating for dubs fans esp those at arena. Probably same for pats fans when giants sent them to 18-1. I remember how upset I was when john starks ruined knicks chances in game 7 in 94 but that wasnt a historic season. Took a full week to recover. Curry was total class in post game conference though. And cannot blame refs for allowing rough stuff on curry bc irving managed to deal with it as a small size player pretty well. Irving is a superstar near top of pg list if durant goes to gsw week I will throw up. Maybe you guys want melo?
There's no question that Jordan was favoured by the refs (hence the phrase "The Michael Jordan treatment"), and Curry did not receive the "Jordan treatment", but the referees did not decide this series (nor did they decide any of Jordan's series).
You took the words out of my mouth. I was going to say that this season for GS is equivalent to the season that Pats when undefeated then lost to the Giants in the Superbowl.
My friend sent a text last night that said the greatest shot in Lebrons career was that one free throw.
Yea, I agree... #1 was for sure Lebron's perfectly timed stuff against the glass #2 I'd say more specifically was Curry's missed behind the back pass that went out of bounds... that was shortly after he had finally hit a big 3 and was trying to get the mojo flowing... that pass embarrassed him and killed it. What ever happened to his wrist??? When he went down I was sure he broke something... has that been reported on since? But yes going up 4 with 10 seconds left sealed it..... even when GSW was throwing up 3's at the buzzer and missing, they would have still been short if they got one in.
I'm not sure. But I think he tweaked it and also hit his funny bone and that feeling went to his wrist. It looked bad and any one else that fell the same way I doubt would have been able to compose themselves.
As a Clevelander, everyone knows in this town that LeBron is known for drama...........real or carefully crafted often resulting in getting players moved or coaches fired. He knows where the cameras are, he knows the moment, he knows what everyone in media is saying about him. He certainly took a bad fall, but I don't doubt for a moment that he played that up. It didn't look like his wrist was hurting when he raised that trophy and champagne.
currys worst move was dribbling at the 3pt line with k love on him at the end. either take a quick 30' bomb or better yet drive. to. the. basket!!! werent they down 4 at the time? they couldve used a layup as much as a 3. but wasting precious time and then heaving a one handed shot like that was the closing of the casket. inexcusable for player of his level and experience.
Oh I know for sure he's as big a flopper as every other NBA player. I do try to look at that specific play as any other injury we've all had playing sports. It's something that hurts like hell for a minute, but we know we have to put the pain aside and keep playing. With 15 seconds (or around there) why they were playing at such a fast pace didn't make any sense to me. If I remember there were 10 seconds on the shot clock, so why not run the clock down as far as possible? But it's moot point now. Curry played sloppily, period. That shot, the behind the back pass. He's just a chucker.
Funny you should say that. My brother and I were thinking the same thing, as we were watching the replays, we looked hard and careful at how he landed on his wrist, and it looked perfectly normal. I was thinking that he embellished so that he looks like a hero, ie taking a nasty fall, injuring his wrist, miraculously finishing the game and clinching the win. Needless to say, he was already a hero prior to and without that incident, and wouldn't have needed that to obtain hero status.
Well, he needs to figure out what 'defense' means, then you can possibly start using the word 'superstar'. I have been in situations where I thought I was hurt really bad, and I react the same exact way for about a minute. I have had fingers and thumbs slammed in car doors that, I yelped, but nothing happened. The shock of the moment makes you do that, you 'reset', and no pain comes, and you figure out you are OK. I don't think at all he did this 'hero' crap you alluded to, as one person here said, he knows where the cameras are, he knows if he faked it that would be revealed in a replay. He was in shock for a minute, that's all.
Yes the loudest I have heard the crowd which was a great game though to bad GSW couldn't pull it off Curry seemed to be off for the last few games....and I didn't see any big fights also...and our car still had all its windows after the game! Unlike other visits...
what ace said. what an exciting 7 games. I was amazed to see how LeBron can dominate the game when he needed to. a stud for sure!
irvings finals defense was the equal of currys and the title of this thread is currys best season of all time. all I want for irving is to be in mix with curry, westbrook, paul, etc. his defense is good enough for that and to be a superstar
with a lot of help from the "Gods" of the NBA to barely eek out a 7 game series... Lebron and Kyrie were heroic, In prime time, Lebron made some timely hall of fame caliber plays due to his superior athletic ability and gifts, but he would not have gotten on that stage if he didn't milk it up and use his acting ability, his influence, and everything to beat a lesser physically gifted opponent. Like it or not, the Cav's benefited greatly from poor NBA decisions in regards to suspending key players at inopportune times and biased officiating. All you saw was Goliath killing david with his 100 foot spear when you limited David's slingshot's to a limited number of stones... The NBA and the rest of the non-Warriors fan world got what they wanted-an extended, exciting series that they felt would likely end in a Warriors win in 4 to 5 games, and a superstar making out of this world plays on the greatest stage...Lebron continued to ham it up after getting fouled and missing the dunk in the end. Character matters most in what people say and do when the lose and when they are down. Curry and Klay played poorly in game 7 and congratulated the Cavs and said that the Warriors will be newly motivated for next year. Draymond came back to congratulate Lebron. Lebron cried and said "I gave my blood, my sweat, my tears for this", as the Cav's fans screamed. He stated to Cleveland, "I delivered my promise in bringing a championship to the city of Cleveland." " I-I-I" It is all that he has been about. A physically talented player, who manipulates everything to get what he wants...and we are all suckers to it... The Warriors need to retool: bye bye Harrison Barnes...hello Kevin Durant, Andre Drummond, Hassan Whiteside, or Kevin Love...We need someone like you to get the TEAM championship back...
Come on man, don't be that guy. Officiating didn't lose them the series, poor shooting at the wrong time (helped by great Clev defense) did.
You should re-read his post. He said that because Lebron knew where the cameras were, that he didn't doubt that he played it up. I agreed with him.
All athletes flop whether for the drama, their brand, influence refs, whatever. Maybe he was nervous to shoot the free throws and wanted an excuse if he missed (big sarcasm) Lebron is my 2nd best player all time after mj and no one who knows basketball could put anyone other than him as starting all time small forward. Bron bashing officially ended last night
Everything I said a few posts ago comes to fruition once again. He claims he zeros out the media virtually everyday in press conferences and yet he posts this just an hour ago. Typical LeBron. LeBron reminds me of that #1 sales guy in the company that can get away with a lot more than the guys pulling lower numbers. The franchise walk on their tippy toes around him, Dan Gilbert gives him and his "crew" anything they want, he has incredible amount of power. LeBron gets guys fired the worst way, passive aggressively, he won't tell you to fire the coach, he'll just very subtly disprespect him every chance he gets in front of the media like little paper cuts everyday until you eventually bleed to death. At the same time, he's one of us (born & raised in NE Ohio) and for that reason the overwhelming majority of us turn a blind eye. He did the right thing by coming back to give us the ultimate prize we've been thirsting for 52 years. It makes it extra special that it was one of us that did it. A person that understands the suffering, the debacles, the collapses we've had to anguish through. That thirst is now quenched. Image Unavailable, Please Login
