I understand what you guys are getting at.

We may just be watching the second of those rings coming soon. We're certainly watching some fun stuff!

As for another four, very doubtful IMO..... As "you guys" often note, "it's a different game today."

    :)

    Cheers,

Looked up his stats today and maybe best season ever
90, 50, 45% only second time ever after steve nash. But 30 ppg way more than nash. And 7 assists with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. All with most wins ever
Yup, as good as it gets

What makes his regular season stats great and arguably the best ever is his team is winning and the more he produces, the higher the team's chance of winning, simoly because he is an efficient scorer with high basketball IQ. Can't say the same for others aside from MJ.

Check your stats. Plenty of high basketball IQ's been out there.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 3 college championships at UCLA IN A ROW.
19X NBA All Star 6 NBA Championships 6X NBA MVP 2X NBA Championship MVP
20 seasons in the NBA Played in 10 NBA finals. NBA rookie of the year. 2X scoring champion 4X blocked shots champion.

Oh and was the assistant coach on two more NBA championship teams.

Want me to go on about great players and single season records? Find my first post about Wilt Chamberlain.

Look up Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, there are at least a half dozen players who have had great individual seasons on championship teams, plenty have had more than one.

Hell, Magic Johnson played CENTER in the NBA finals when their starting center got injured and he carried that team to a championship against the 76ers. Thats high basketball IQ when a GUARD can move to center and help his team win.

Steph's a GREAT 3 point shooter, maybe will end up the best ever. He's a good teammate, at least appears to be. Can make his own shot where none exists, but greatest season ever? C'mon, be real.

If we're talking regular season, show me a player who had a higher effective field goal scoring percentage and actually had a winning season (as in... Best record in the NBA). Wilt padded stats at the expense of his team. Curry actually makes his teammates better and more efficient.

None of the players you mentioned ever scored 30 ppg , had anything remotely close to a 63% effective field goal percentage (aside from Wilt) and had the best team winning record going into the playoffs all in the same season

    Check your stats.

you probably have not watched many of Curry's games this year...you are just looking at stats obviously. Stephen Curry could have had much higher s scoring, assist, steals this year, but in approximately 1/3 of the season games, he had sat out if he 4th quarter, Why you say, Because the Coach Kerr and the Warriors have only one true goal and that is to win he championship so they choose to rest Curry as much as they can. Despite being held out of many 4th quarters he still led the league in scoring and steals and was also close to he top in assists. The thread was made to place light of Steph Curry's wonderful season and transition into a bonafide all around player. Your judgement of Curry as just a great 3 point shooter sounds just like Charles Barkley's opinion.

Greatest individual season, imo, was Jordan in '87-'88. Led the league in scoring at 35ppg with 54%fg and 85% free throw (60%ts), led the league in steals at 3.2spg, added 1.6bpg, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists. He led the league in scoring, won mvp and defensive player of the year, only player to ever do that. He also won all star mvp and the dunk contest that year, then averaged 36.3ppg in the playoffs.

Curry is the best shooter I've ever seen, but I don't think we'll ever see Jordan 87-88 again, dominating both sides of the ball so completely. Curry isn't even a first team all defense let alone dpoy candidate. Until he can do that, he won't be in the discussion for best ever or best season ever.

Insane year but jordan didnt win ring in 80s. Currys regular season stats this year compare well to mj during his championship seasons. Again, 30ppg at 90, 50, and 45% is equally insane. Besides curry is a pg so cant compare to mj. Lets compare curry to other point guards

Most important stat of all is if your team wins the championship. The 1987-88 Bulls only won 50 games and finished 2nd in East. (2015-16 Warriors 73 games and 1st in West). The 1987-88 Bulls didn't even make the Eastern Finals, as they got eliminated by the Pistons in the 2nd round. The 1987-88 Bulls were not one of the glory years in the 6 championships that hey had. I still believe Curry's contribution to his team this year is more significant than MJ's 1987-88 year. Again many of you are purely looking at scoring stats as the main measure of greatness. Statistically scoring MJ's 1987-88 was amazing, however MJ's contribution to the team success that year does not compare to Curry's contribution to the 2015-16 I think MJ would trade his 35.0 ppg average MVP, and defensive MVP for another championship every day of the week. Still despite his team underachieving, MJ's 1987-88 was rather impressive and deserves to be in the conversation.

We will see how far the Warriors get in this years playoffs. Hopefully Curry's injury is not too serious to keep him out an extended time. Curry is much more than a shooter. Saying that Curry is just a great shooter is just like saying Larry Bird was just a great shooter...

i'd argue that Dwayne Wade's 2009 season was better...so greatest of all time, no.

just looked up wade in 09 and was better than I thought.

    wade played 79 games, 39mpg, scored 30.2 with 5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 1.3 blks, 2.2 steals, 3.4 to. his shooting % was 49 fg, 32 3pt, and 77 ft

curry also played 79 games but only 34mpg, scored 30.1 with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 0.2 blks, 2.1 steals, 3.3 to. so all very close but the difference between wades excellent season and currys historic one is in the shooting % of 50 fg. 45 3pt, and 91 ft. he was so much more efficient than wade was that its not comparable

and of course, wade wasn't even mvp and curry will be without doubt. and he didn't lead league in those stats, as good as they were. LeBron scored 5ppg more than wade did

Curry is a once in a generational player...He has changed how the game is being played. Every 5 to 18 year old kid emulates his shooting style, Underarmor has become the new cool brand because of Steph...He has greatly improved his play from the 2014-2015 championship season to this year's 2015-2016 campaign...We all hope he can come back in these playoffs to help lead his team to the greatest team season ever. How many other players in the NBA deserve the attention from the othe team like Steph Curry demands...

I submit to you Steph is not the MVP because his team keeps winning without him.

Most MVP's - when they miss games - their teams lose most games.

Colin Cowherd did a semi-rant today on why Steph isn't MVP, isn't even close to MVP. Not sure I agree, but he certainly had some valid points.

His team continues to win without him, in the playoffs, no less.

Take Lebron off the court, and Cleveland doesn't have a chance. (is that how we spell LeBron?) Same with Miami before his move back to Cleveland.

I think Steph is a great 3 point shooter. Absolutely fantastic, and he's having one hell of a season. MVP? Given the parameters by which MVP is chosen? Sure.

We'll see, hope he gets back on the court this year and plays his ass off.

Steph continues to amaze me any time I watch any of his games...Due to a significant knee injury, he hadn't played a game in over 2 weeks...He came off the bench, starting slow but eventually scoring 40 points, with 17 points in overtime (yet another NBA record)-singlehandedly taking over the game in the end...If he does not win the UNANIMOUS MVP tomorrow the system is rigged!
