    Here's a killer idea:

We've all seen these newer cell phones that combine the features of an MP3 player within the phone....that's great, you can listen to music and then take calls, flipping back & forth as needed.

We've also seen all sorts of interesting headphones and integrations; sunglasses that have the ear-piece & mic built in, blue-tooth remotes, etc...but we are still missing a vital piece that many would like to have:

I want to listen to music while I ride my mountain bike and be able to know when a call is coming in and then take the call using the same ear-piece. Thing is, I want to listen to music in STEREO with a med-high quality ear-piece in BOTH ears and then only have to flick a button & start talking. This means an ear-piece in both ears and a microphone of sorts. I don't want to reach down and pull-out the phone.

Has anyone seen anything like this??????????

i have some kyocera headphones like this that worked with my Kyocera 7135 - but i don't think they work with non-kyocera devices.

i could play MP3s from my phone and listen, and when a call came in, the software (palm os based) would switch to the phone app and i could answer the phone and talk (there was a mic).

it wasn't entirely automated though, due to the limitations of the palm os.

i have a treo 650 now and there's nothing like that, ime.

a lot of this is device dependent in that the device OS has to be able to do stuff like this, and not many can. even windows mobile 5 (on the new treo 700w) seems to have some task switching issues. all that to say that it's not just about the headphones and mic.

    doody.

I know what you mean. I went into the Apple store thinking someone had developed bluetooth headphones, but nadda.

I'm guessing they are in development with BT being built into next gen Ipods.

    I have Oakley

Thumps & Razorwires and they work easy and great.

I don't need wireless, that would just add yet another set of batteries to keep charged.

I want to listen to quality music in BOTH ears, a microphone should be intergrated into one of the ear pieces, and when a phone call comes in, the music stops/pauses....I then click on a button and have a phone convo, then click out of phone and resume stereo music. It's that simple and it isn't out there (to my knowledge).

I don't care for those little "ear buds"....they have lousy base, fall out and become annoying over time. Believe it or not, I bought a nice pair of stereo ear clip-on's at TARGET....they have a soft pad about the size of a half-dollar, fit incredibly comfortable, clip on to the outside of your ear, offer AWESOME base with a splendid full sound....they cost all of $9

I'd rather not run the music through the cell phone, I often ride for 3 hours and have enough trouble keeping my phone lasting that long.

The solution is an MP3 player with an integrated blue-tooth system that can interact with the cell phone.

    Absolutely!!

But getting away from the office can (in opportunity cost) cost me thousands of dollars.

By occassionally (when I don't have phone "coverage") taking the phones with me, I can get out and ride far more often!!!!

Thanks for the great leads guys!!!

I use a Sony Ericsson k750i with T-mobile, these stereo headsets that come with it are detachable from the mic and you can use any normal stereo headset to plug right into the mic with the answer button........the k750i is far one of the best phones on the market......it can hold 2gigs of music on an upgraded memory stick duo and has built in radio...
