I love this quote from Steve Wynn, in the April issue of Stratos Magazine. 420, 430, 365, 360... what's the difference?:

STRATOS: Is there really a Ferrari/Maserati showroom in your resort?

Steve Wynn: Yes. We are the largest Ferrari/Maserati dealer in the world. Ferrari only makes 1,200 cars a year. We sold 180 Ferraris and Maseratis in the first nine months we were open. Someone will order a 420 that's available in 14 months but there will be a 365 with 2,000 miles on it. People with Ferraris don't drive them very much. We will sell a person a used Ferrari and tell them that when their car comes in, we will buy the used one back from them.

Maybe it was the mag that had the typos. I would be really suprised for Wynn to not know Ferraris. But I would not be suprised at all that some interviewer that knows nothing of cars was lazy with taking notes.

Ferrari's in the media are wrong alot, remember the "F60" that crashed in Malibu?

Is this true? Didn't they make 20k 360's in 7 years?
    That's 2800/year

I thought Ferrari put out about 3000 cars per year at least. Add in the Enzo, 550 / 575 / superamerica / 360CS and I would think they easily top 3000 units per year. Maybe 1200 per year imported to the US???

While Steve was "out front" (as he always is) about the dealership, the real driving force behind it was Mark Schorr. Mark is a long-time close friend of Steve's, was the first president of Wynn Las Vegas, and is a real Ferrari guy. (He is now COO of Wynn Resorts overall, and I believe is now concentrating on their Asian developments.) It would surprise me if Mark didn't know the facts, but not if Steve didn't.

I believe Steve is legally blind, probably a good reason he doesnt appreciate the difference in models

You are correct that Wynn is legally blind. However, his handicap involves primarily peripheral and night vision. He can see straight ahead in the light, and I'm sure he can recognize different Ferraris (even if he can't name them correctly).

Wynnn's dealership is a joint venture between UAG (Roger Penske's publicly traded auto dealership company) and Wynn, in whatever form he has chosen (corporate, personal, part of the resort - whatever).
I believe that UAG is responsible for all aspects of managing the dealership, so I would not be surprised if Wynn was personally sketchy on the details of what goes on in the dealership. He clearly has no general knowledge of the size and scope of Ferrari's operations, especially with regard to the number of cars they produce.
