Why? If you let leather dry out (which it will over time, especially in hot climates), it'd look like crap in a few years, and the damage is irreversible. Nothing wrong with keeping the leather conditioned; just use the right product. I've always done this, and have always sold my cars looking like new. In fact, my guess is previous owner conditioned the leather, and that's why it looks like new . No need to 'rejuvenate' it if you take care of it, but to each his own. Good day.
Many leather care products recommend using cleaners or conditioners sparingly on/around the stitching. When working on these areas, I usually put no (or very little) additional product on the applicator. I just use what's left over from doing the main areas and a light touch. This way, I don't soak the stitching.
Been using Leatherique Rejuvinator oil and Prestine cleaner regularly for over 4 years. Both leather and stitching are absolutely clean and slightly better than perfect condition. Same stuff used by lots of owners around here with same results. I'm sure there are other leather cleaning products which work well also, but you are wise to check that they do not attack the stitching (apparently some do).
How often do you need to apply this? Do you just use damp cloth to wipe leather clean in between? Since the dash is also leather, can I just use one product for both? My stitching is same color, so not as much concern for me.
I use the prestine clean also, have for awhile. I actually contacted a prestine clean top vendor/detailer and asked him specifically about using the product on my Stradale seats with red stitching, he said "it is the only product he uses on his Ferrari detail jobs, it is perfectly safe, will darken the stitching initially, but it will not permanentally darken the stitching, when it dries out or is buffed out it will return to normal color". I have used it 2 times so far and cannot tell a difference in color. I use it once a month on all my leather surfaces, and will use a damp towel for in between jobs. I park my car in a garage and only drive it occaisionally (not a daily driver).
Can one of the mods correct the spelling of "stitching" in the title so that this thread will show up on stitching searches? Thanks.
