I just talked to someone who has a 599 on order and he said that his 599 that was to be delivered either this month or next will be delayed until possibly February. The only thing he said was that only the stick shift cars were being delayed and that the F1's were being delivered on time. Anyone heard of this?

I am ordering mine with the manual, and I have heard that they have experienced a problem with the clutch. What the problem is, no one is saying.

When you to receive the car, it could take off a photo of the interior to show rare 599 with manual transmission...

    Hi,

I am so relieved that some people are actually ordering the 599 with a manual....you guys just made my day!

I am an engineer in aerospace and do appreciate the technology involved with Formula 1, but to me there is a fine line of when to stop in a sports car IMHO - in an aircraft that is in combat, sure use tech to relieve pilot workload, but racing/sports cars are supposed to be a SPORT/HOBBY that should involve YOU, the driver! So much technology is being promoted "just because". Little by little the engaging human element is being removed from sports cars and racing, in general.

Congratulations to all of you who opted for a true sports car - the 599 with a MANUAL. Leave the button pushing to video games.

I was told original clutch was not strong enough to handle the torque. They are now using the Enzo's unit.
Mine has been delayed till September '07.

You guys probably would not believe me if I told you that I just saw the first ad offering a 599GTB below MSRP... US customers may consider importing a car from Europe...

I was curious if they were even making any 599's with a stick shift and a search found me this thread. Have any been delivered yet? Do any photo's exist of the set up?

I thought Ferrari was trying to write off stick shifts as old technology and would eventually stop offering it as an option.

Makes me curious as to what they use with the F1...I was under the impression in the case of the 430, 360, etc, it was the same clutch as the manual version.

I too thought that the clutches were the same. Wouldn't suprise me that they are doing this to both streamline production and also to sell more F1 cars at higher prices which will also to increase their downstream clutch business. Am I being too cynical?
